TL;DR: IL-1Ra is the first biologic agent to demonstrate a beneficial effect on the rate of joint erosion and is confirmed both the efficacy and the safety in a large cohort of patients with active and severe RA.
Journal ArticleDOI
2016 update of the EULAR recommendations for the management of early arthritis
Bernard Combe,Robert Landewé,Claire Daien,C. Hua,Daniel Aletaha,José María Álvaro-Gracia,Margot Bakkers,Nina Brodin,Gerd R Burmester,Catalin Codreanu,Richard Conway,Maxime Dougados,Paul Emery,Gianfranco Ferraccioli,João Eurico Fonseca,Karim Raza,Lucía Silva-Fernández,Josef S Smolen,Diana Skingle,Zoltán Szekanecz,Tore K Kvien,Annette H M van der Helm-van Mil,Ronald F van Vollenhoven +22 more
TL;DR: These recommendations provide rheumatologists, general practitioners, healthcare professionals, patients and other stakeholders with an updated EULAR consensus on the entire management of early arthritis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical outcomes of hospitalised patients with COVID-19 and chronic inflammatory and autoimmune rheumatic diseases: a multicentric matched cohort study.
José L. Pablos,María José Galindo,Loreto Carmona,Ana Lledó,Miriam Retuerto,Ricardo Blanco,Miguel A. González-Gay,D. Martínez-López,Isabel Castrejón,José María Álvaro-Gracia,David Fernández Fernández,Antonio Mera-Varela,Sara Manrique-Arija,Natalia Mena Vázquez,Antonio Fernández-Nebro +14 more
TL;DR: In hospitalised patients with chronic inflammatory rheumatic diseases, having a CTD but not IA nor previous immunosuppressive therapies was associated with severe COVID-19.
Journal ArticleDOI
Intravenous administration of expanded allogeneic adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells in refractory rheumatoid arthritis (Cx611): results of a multicentre, dose escalation, randomised, single-blind, placebo-controlled phase Ib/IIa clinical trial.
José María Álvaro-Gracia,Juan Angel Jover,Rosario García-Vicuña,Luis Carreño,Alberto Alonso,Sara Marsal,Francisco J. Blanco,Víctor M. Martínez-Taboada,Peter C. Taylor,Cristina Martín-Martín,Olga DelaRosa,Ignacio Tagarro,Federico Díaz-González +12 more
TL;DR: The intravenous infusion of Cx611 was in general well tolerated, without evidence of dose-related toxicity at the dose range and time period studied, and a trend for clinical efficacy was observed.
Journal ArticleDOI
CC and CXC chemokine receptors mediate migration, proliferation, and matrix metalloproteinase production by fibroblast-like synoviocytes from rheumatoid arthritis patients
Rosario García-Vicuña,Maria Victoria Gómez-Gaviro,María Jesús Domínguez-Luis,Martina K. Pec,Isidoro González-Álvaro,José María Álvaro-Gracia,Federico Díaz-González +6 more
TL;DR: Through modulation of the migration, proliferation, and MMP production by FLS, the chemokine system may play a more direct role in the destructive phase of RA than is currently suspected, and thus emphasize the relevance of chemokines and their receptors as potential therapeutic targets in this disease.
