Localization of multiple partial discharge sources in air-insulated substation using probability-based algorithm

TL;DR: The results indicate that the probability-based localization algorithm reasonably integrates the TDOAs of continuous signal sequence, which can effectively reduce the influence of TDOA estimation errors and improve the localization accuracy.
Journal ArticleDOI

The influence of residual charge on surface discharge propagation

TL;DR: In this article, the influence of residual charge on the propagation of surface discharge was investigated using high-speed framing and streak cameras, and an electrostatic probe, and it was shown that with the residual charge of a previous opposite polarity discharge on an insulator, the propagation velocity increases to three to eight times as large as that of the surface discharge on a clear insulator without any residual charge.
Journal ArticleDOI

Partial discharge signals separation using cumulative energy function and mathematical morphology gradient

TL;DR: The proposed algorithm is effective for separating mixed PD signals initiated from multiple sources and mixed current impulse signals acquired from PD experiments on artificial multi-defect models and an on-site transformer are examined.
Journal ArticleDOI

A novel sight for understanding surface charging phenomena on downsized HVDC GIL spacers with non-uniform conductivity

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the effects of non-uniform surface conductivity on surface charge accumulation behaviors of downsized HVDC GIL spacers and found that the accumulated surface charges show a rising first and then decreasing trend with the increase of SiC contents in the coated area.
Journal ArticleDOI

Residual charge density distribution measurement of surface leader with feedback electrostatic probe

TL;DR: In this article, a two-layer structure pipe is designed to lower the surface potential after leader discharge, and the residual surface charge density distribution under 23.5kV application voltage is given, and numerical characteristics of residual charge in the leader channel and streamer channel are analyzed.
