Antiviral Stilbene 1,2-Diamines Prevent Initiation of Hepatitis C Virus RNA Replication at the Outset of Infection
Pablo Gastaminza,Suresh M. Pitram,Marlène Dreux,Larissa B. Krasnova,Christina Whitten-Bauer,Jiajia Dong,Josan Chung,Valery V. Fokin,K. Barry Sharpless,Francis V. Chisari +9 more
TL;DR: A family of HCV inhibitors that target a critical step in the establishment of hepatitis C virus infection in which NS5A translated de novo from an incoming genomic HCV RNA template is required to initiate the replication of this important human pathogen.

Ligand-accelerated catalytic asymmetric dihydroxylation using dihydroquinidine and dihydroquinidine esters as ligands
TL;DR: In this paper, an osmium-catalyzed method of addition to an olefin was presented, where a chiral ligand, an organic solvent, water, and an amine derivative were combined.

Identification of simple arylfluorosulfates as potent agents against resistant bacteria.
Jiong Zhang,Xiangxiang Zhao,John R. Cappiello,Yi Yang,Yunfei Cheng,Guang Liu,Wenjing Fang,Yinzhu Luo,Yu Zhang,Jiajia Dong,Lixin Zhang,K. Barry Sharpless +11 more
TL;DR: Arylfluorosulfates 3, 81, and 101 were synthesized via sulfur fluoride exchange (SuFEx) to overcome multidrug resistance and were not susceptible to the generation of resistance as discussed by the authors.
