Majorana quantization and half-integer thermal quantum Hall effect in a Kitaev spin liquid
Yuichi Kasahara,Teruaki Ohnishi,Yuta Mizukami,O. Tanaka,Sixiao Ma,Kaori Sugii,Nobuyuki Kurita,Hidekazu Tanaka,Joji Nasu,Yukitoshi Motome,Takasada Shibauchi,Yuji Matsuda +11 more
TL;DR: Half-integer quantization of the thermal Hall effect in a Kitaev spin liquid reveals chiral currents of charge-neutral Majorana fermions around the edges of the sample, produced by strong electronic correlations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Unusual Thermal Hall Effect in a Kitaev Spin Liquid Candidate α -RuCl 3
Yoshiya Kasahara,Kaori Sugii,Teruaki Ohnishi,Masaaki Shimozawa,Masahiro Yamashita,Naoyuki Kurita,Hidekazu Tanaka,Joji Nasu,Yukitoshi Motome,T. Shibauchi,Yuichi Matsuda +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, thermal Hall conductivity of the Kitaev magnet with the two-dimensional honeycomb lattice was investigated. And the emergent Majorana edge current is predicted to manifest itself in the form of a finite thermal Hall effect, a feature commonly discussed in topological superconductors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Emergence of nontrivial magnetic excitations in a spin-liquid state of kagomé volborthite.
Daiki Watanabe,Kaori Sugii,Masaaki Shimozawa,Yoshitaka Suzuki,Takeshi Yajima,Hajime Ishikawa,Zenji Hiroi,Takasada Shibauchi,Yuji Matsuda,Minoru Yamashita +9 more
TL;DR: The observation of the thermal version of the Hall effect in a spin-liquid state of a quantum magnet with frustrated two-dimensional kagomé structure suggests the emergence of nontrivial elementary excitations in the gapless SL state which feel the presence of fictitious magnetic flux.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spin Thermal Hall Conductivity of a Kagome Antiferromagnet.
Hayato Doki,Masatoshi Akazawa,Hyun-Yong Lee,Jung Hoon Han,Kaori Sugii,Masaaki Shimozawa,Naoki Kawashima,Migaku Oda,Hiroyuki Yoshida,Minoru Yamashita +9 more
TL;DR: Values of Ca kapellasite and those of another kagome antiferromagnet, volborthite, converge to one single curve in simulations modeled using Schwinger bosons, indicating a common temperature dependence of κ_{xy} for the spins of a kagomesite.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interplanar coupling-dependent magnetoresistivity in high-purity layered metals
Naoki Kikugawa,Pallab Goswami,Andhika Kiswandhi,Andhika Kiswandhi,Eun Sang Choi,David Graf,Ryan Baumbach,James S. Brooks,Kaori Sugii,Kaori Sugii,Y. Iida,M. Nishio,Shinya Uji,Taichi Terashima,P. M. C. Rourke,Nigel E. Hussey,Hiroshi Takatsu,Shingo Yonezawa,Yoshiteru Maeno,Luis Balicas +19 more
TL;DR: A hitherto unobserved magnetoresistive effect in ultra-clean layered metals, namely a negative longitudinal magnetoresistance that is capable of overcoming their very pronounced orbital one is reported.
