Journal ArticleDOI
Interleukin-37 Expression Is Increased in Chronic HIV-1-Infected Individuals and Is Associated with Inflammation and the Size of the Total Viral Reservoir.
Jesper F Højen,Thomas A Rasmussen,Karen Lise Dahl Andersen,Anni Winckelmann,Rune R. Laursen,Jesper Damsgaard Gunst,Holger Jon Møller,Mayumi Fujita,Lars Østergaard,Ole S. Søgaard,Charles A. Dinarello,Charles A. Dinarello,Martin Tolstrup +12 more
TL;DR: The data shows that the level of IL-37 mRNA is affected by chronic HIV-1-infection, and a relationship with the activation of the monocyte compartment is suggested by the correlation with sCD14 and, interestingly,IL-37 could be related to the size of the total viral HIV- 1 reservoir.
Journal ArticleDOI
Innate DNA sensing is impaired in HIV patients and IFI16 expression correlates with chronic immune activation
Sara K. Nissen,Jesper F Højen,Karen Lise Dahl Andersen,Emil Kofod-Olsen,Randi K. Berg,Søren R. Paludan,Lars Østergaard,Martin R. Jakobsen,Martin Tolstrup,Trine H. Mogensen +9 more
TL;DR: The present study demonstrates abnormal expression and function of cytosolic DNA sensors in HIV patients, which may have implications for control of opportunistic infections, chronic immune activation and T cell death.
Journal ArticleDOI
Levels of regulatory B cells do not predict serological responses to hepatitis B vaccine.
Maria Bolther,Karen Lise Dahl Andersen,Martin Tolstrup,Kumar Visvanathan,Ian Woolley,Narelle A Skinner,Rosemary Millen,Nadia Warner,Lars Østergaard,Søren Jensen-Fangel +9 more
TL;DR: This study cannot prove that levels of IL10 producing Bregs or IFN-γ positive T cell affect HBV vaccine response, but it in theory could provide effective immunity despite low anti-HBs titer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Need for improvements in the surveillance and management of chronic viral hepatitis in HIV patients followed in a Danish outpatient clinic
Karen Lise Dahl Andersen,Carsten Schade Larsen,Mikkel Steen Petersen,Peter Derek Christian Leutscher +3 more
TL;DR: A more proactive hepatitis surveillance and management strategy integrated into the overall HIV health care program is warranted.
