Journal ArticleDOI
Motor development following in utero exposure to organochlorines: a follow-up study of children aged 5–9 years in Greenland, Ukraine and Poland
Birgit Bjerre Høyer,Cecilia Høst Ramlau-Hansen,Henning S. Pedersen,Katarzyna Góralczyk,Lyubov Chumak,Bo A. G. Jönsson,Jens Peter Bonde,Gunnar Toft +7 more
TL;DR: In utero exposure to CB-153 and p,p′-DDE was not associated with parentally retrospectively assessed developmental milestones in infancy or parentally assessed motor skills at young school age.
Journal ArticleDOI
Biopesticides--towards increased consumer safety in the European Union.
Katarzyna Czaja,Katarzyna Góralczyk,Paweł Struciński,Agnieszka Hernik,Wojciech Korcz,Maria Minorczyk,Monika Łyczewska,Jan K Ludwicki +7 more
TL;DR: The introduction of new food safety regulations in the European Union has resulted in the withdrawal of many synthetic active substances used in plant protection products, in light of their potential or actual harmful effect on human and animal health, as well as on the environment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Inter-population variations in concentrations, determinants of and correlations between 2,2',4,4',5,5'-hexachlorobiphenyl (CB-153) and 1,1-dichloro-2,2-bis (p-chlorophenyl)-ethylene (p,p'-DDE): a cross-sectional study of 3161 men and women from Inuit and European populations
Bo Jönsson,Lars Rylander,Christian H. Lindh,Anna Rignell-Hydbom,Aleksander Giwercman,Gunnar Toft,Henning S. Pedersen,Jan K Ludwicki,Katarzyna Góralczyk,Valentyna Zvyezday,Marcello Spanò,Davide Bizzaro,Eva Cecilie Bonefeld-Jørgensen,Gian Carlo Manicardi,Jens Peter Bonde,Lars Hagmar +15 more
TL;DR: Inuendo as discussed by the authors is part of a collaborative project aiming to assess the impact of dietary persistent organochlorine pollutants (POPs) on human fertility, and analyze inter-population variations in serum concentrations of 2,2',4,4, 5,5,5'-hexachlorobiphenyl (CB-153) and 1,1-dichloro-2,2-bis (p-chlorophenyl)-ethylene (p,p'-DDE).
Journal ArticleDOI
Association of maternal serum concentrations of 2,2', 4,4'5,5'-hexachlorobiphenyl (CB-153) and 1,1-dichloro-2,2-bis (p-chlorophenyl)-ethylene (p,p'-DDE) levels with birth weight, gestational age and preterm births in Inuit and European populations.
Bogdan Wojtyniak,Daniel Rabczenko,Bo A. G. Jönsson,Valentyna Zvezday,Henning S. Pedersen,Lars Rylander,Gunnar Toft,Jan K Ludwicki,Katarzyna Góralczyk,Anna Lesovaya,Lars Hagmar,Jens Peter Bonde +11 more
TL;DR: There was no significant association between CB-153 and p,p'-DDE concentrations and risk of preterm birth however, in all cohorts the odds ratio was above 1.0 and new insights as to why results vary across studies were not apparent.
Journal ArticleDOI
Organochlorine pesticides and PCBs in human adipose tissues in Poland
TL;DR: The aim of this paper is to present the actual concentrations of HCB, p,p[prime]-DDT, p-p[ prime]-DDE, isomers of HCH (alpha, beta, gamma), and PCBs in human adipose tissues to contribute to the general discussion on the distribution patterns of the organochlorine compounds in the population.
