Journal ArticleDOI
Tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase deficiency causes a bone dysplasia with autoimmunity and a type I interferon expression signature.
Tracy A Briggs,Gillian I. Rice,Sarah B. Daly,Jill E. Urquhart,Hannah Gornall,Brigitte Bader-Meunier,Kannan Baskar,Shankar Baskar,Véronique Baudouin,Michael W. Beresford,Graeme C.M. Black,Rebecca J. Dearman,Francis de Zegher,Emily S. Foster,Camille Francès,Alison R. Hayman,Emma Hilton,Chantal Job-Deslandre,M. L. Kulkarni,Martine Le Merrer,Agnès Linglart,Simon C. Roifman,Sabine Scholl-Bürgi,Nigel Smith,Marcin Szynkiewicz,Alice E. Wiedeman,Alice E. Wiedeman,Carine Wouters,Leo A. H. Zeef,Jean-Laurent Casanova,Jean-Laurent Casanova,Jean-Laurent Casanova,Keith B. Elkon,Keith B. Elkon,Anthony J. Janckila,Pierre Lebon,Yanick J. Crow +47 more
TL;DR: Findings reveal a previously unrecognized link between tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase activity and interferon metabolism and highlight the importance of type Iinterferon in the genesis of autoimmunity.
Journal ArticleDOI
ALG8-CDG: novel patients and review of the literature
Michaela Höck,K Wegleiter,Elisabeth Ralser,Ursula Kiechl-Kohlendorfer,Sabine Scholl-Bürgi,Christine Fauth,Elisabeth Steichen,Karin Pichler,Dirk Lefeber,Gert Matthjis,Liesbeth Keldermans,Kathrin Maurer,Johannes Zschocke,Daniela Karall +13 more
TL;DR: In ALG8-CDG, isoelectric focusing of transferrin in serum or plasma shows an abnormal sialotransferrin pattern, and the diagnosis is confirmed by mutation analysis inALG8; all patients reported so far had point mutations or small deletions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fluid-debris level in follicular cysts: a pathognomonic sign of ovarian torsion
TL;DR: The fluid-debris level is confirmed as a pathognomonic sonographic sign of ovarian torsion with or without associated teratoma.
Journal ArticleDOI
A new mutation in the KINDLIN-3 gene ablates integrin-dependent leukocyte, platelet, and osteoclast function in a patient with leukocyte adhesion deficiency-III.
TL;DR: A new C>T point mutation in exon 13 in the FERMT3 gene in an infant diagnosed with LAD‐III is identified and it is shown that KINDLIN‐3 expression is required for platelet aggregation and leukocyte function, but also osteoclast‐mediated bone resorption.
Journal ArticleDOI
The diagnosis and management of patients with idiopathic osteolysis
Ali Al Kaissi,Sabine Scholl-Buergi,Rainer Biedermann,Kathrin Maurer,Jochen G. Hofstaetter,Klaus Klaushofer,Franz Grill +6 more
TL;DR: The correct diagnoses in these 3 patients required the exclusion of malignant osteoclastic tumours, inflammatory disorders of bone, vascular disease, and neurogenic arthropathies using history, physical exam, and appropriate testing and imaging.
