Journal ArticleDOI
Disruption of Type 5 Adenylyl Cyclase Enhances Desensitization of Cyclic Adenosine Monophosphate Signal and Increases Akt Signal With Chronic Catecholamine Stress
Satoshi Okumura,Dorothy E. Vatner,Reiko Kurotani,Yunzhe Bai,Shumin Gao,Zengrong Yuan,Kousaku Iwatsubo,Coskun Ulucan,Jun-ichi Kawabe,Kaushik Ghosh,Stephen F. Vatner,Yoshihiro Ishikawa +11 more
TL;DR: The absence of type 5 AC results in more effective desensitization after long-term catecholamine stress and protects against the development of myocyte apoptosis and deterioration of cardiac function, potentially elucidating a novel approach to the therapy of heart failure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mechanism of gender-specific differences in aortic stiffness with aging in nonhuman primates
Hongyu Qiu,Christophe Depre,Kaushik Ghosh,Ranillo R.G. Resuello,Filipinas F. Natividad,Franco Rossi,Athanasios Peppas,You-Tang Shen,Dorothy E. Vatner,Stephen F. Vatner +9 more
TL;DR: There are major species differences in the effects of aging on aortic collagen types 1 and 3 in young adult and old adult monkeys, but changes in collagen isoforms and the decrease in elastin observed only in old males likely account for the greater increase in aorti stiffness.
Journal ArticleDOI
A general estimation method using spacings
TL;DR: In this paper, a general parametric estimation method which makes use of the coverage probabilities or spacings is proposed, and it is shown that such estimators are asymptotically normal.
Journal ArticleDOI
A new method of predicting US and state-level cancer mortality counts for the current calendar year.
Ram C. Tiwari,Kaushik Ghosh,Ahmedin Jemal,Mark Hachey,Elizabeth Ward,Michael J. Thun,Eric J. Feuer +6 more
TL;DR: The improved accuracy of the new method was particularly evident for prostate cancer, for which mortality rates changed dramatically in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Journal ArticleDOI
Predicting US and State-Level Cancer Counts for the Current Calendar Year: Part I – Evaluation of Temporal Projection Methods for Mortality
Huann-Sheng Chen,Kenneth M. Portier,Kaushik Ghosh,Deepa Naishadham,Hyune Ju Kim,Li Zhu,Linda Williams Pickle,Martin Krapcho,Steve Scoppa,Ahmedin Jemal,Eric J. Feuer +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, a study was undertaken to evaluate the temporal projection methods that are applied by the American Cancer Society to predict 4-year-ahead projections of cancer deaths in the United States.
