Allergic Rhinitis and Its Impact on Asthma

The European Position Paper on Rhinosinusitis and Nasal Polyps 2020 is the update of similar evidence based position papers published in 2005 and 2007 and 2012. The core objective of the EPOS2020 guideline is to provide revised, up-to-date and clear evidence-based recommendations and integrated care pathways in ARS and CRS. EPOS2020 provides an update on the literature published and studies undertaken in the eight years since the EPOS2012 position paper was published and addresses areas not extensively covered in EPOS2012 such as paediatric CRS and sinus surgery. EPOS2020 also involves new stakeholders, including pharmacists and patients, and addresses new target users who have become more involved in the management and treatment of rhinosinusitis since the publication of the last EPOS document, including pharmacists, nurses, specialised care givers and indeed patients themselves, who employ increasing self-management of their condition using over the counter treatments. The document provides suggestions for future research in this area and offers updated guidance for definitions and outcome measurements in research in different settings. EPOS2020 contains chapters on definitions and classification where we have defined a large number of terms and indicated preferred terms. A new classification of CRS into primary and secondary CRS and further division into localized and diffuse disease, based on anatomic distribution is proposed. There are extensive chapters on epidemiology and predisposing factors, inflammatory mechanisms, (differential) diagnosis of facial pain, allergic rhinitis, genetics, cystic fibrosis, aspirin exacerbated respiratory disease, immunodeficiencies, allergic fungal rhinosinusitis and the relationship between upper and lower airways. The chapters on paediatric acute and chronic rhinosinusitis are totally rewritten. All available evidence for the management of acute rhinosinusitis and chronic rhinosinusitis with or without nasal polyps in adults and children is systematically reviewed and integrated care pathways based on the evidence are proposed. Despite considerable increases in the amount of quality publications in recent years, a large number of practical clinical questions remain. It was agreed that the best way to address these was to conduct a Delphi exercise . The results have been integrated into the respective sections. Last but not least, advice for patients and pharmacists and a new list of research needs are included. The objective of this paper is to give a comprehensive introduction to applied cryptography with an engineer or computer scientist in mind. The emphasis is on the knowledge needed to create practical systems which supports integrity, confidentiality, or authenticity. Topics covered includes an introduction to the concepts in cryptography, attacks against cryptographic systems, key use and handling, random bit generation, encryption modes, and message authentication codes. Recommendations on algorithms and further reading is given in the end of the paper. This paper should make the reader able to build, understand and evaluate system descriptions and designs based on the cryptographic components described in the paper.

In 2005, Lee and Lee pointed out that Lee N.Y. et al.'s password based authenticated key agreement protocol is vulnerable to a man-in-the-middle attack, and then proposed an improvement to overcome the attack. The current paper, however, demonstrates that Lee and Lee's password based authenticated key agreement protocol is still vulnerable to off-line password guessing attacks. We also propose an improvement to the protocol in order to overcome such attacks.

Robust Two-Party Password Based Authenticated Key Agreement Protocol

The current paper proposes a network-based Intrusion Detection System (IDS) that can efficiently detect attacks based on malformed packets that continues to increase, along with more intelligent and skillful hacking techniques. Our system firstly extracts the important features from network packets and analyzes simple attacks and detects IP fragmentation attacks. Thereafter, it collects information from the SA and the FA and other strange information related to the malformed packet. Finally, it judges whether or not an intrusion has occurred on the basis of information gathered from target systems by CAs. The simulation result shows 0% false-positive and 0% false-negative, 100% detection ratio, thereby confirming the accuracy of the proposed IDS in detecting fragmentation attacks.

Agent-Based real time intrusion detection system against malformed packet attacks

Recently, Yeh et al. proposed an improvement on Zhu et al.'s password based authenticated key exchange protocol based on RSA, in order to make the protocol withstand undetectable on-line password guessing attacks and also to provide explicit key authentication. The improved scheme, however, is still susceptible to off-line password guessing attacks. Accordingly, the current letter demonstrates the vulnerability of Yeh et al.'s scheme regarding off-line password guessing attacks.

Cryptanalysis of Password Authenticated Key Exchange Based on RSA for Imbalanced Wireless Networks

Recently, Yeh and Sun proposed a simple authenticated key agreement protocol resistant to password guessing attacks called SAKA that is simple and cost-effective. And they provided a formal proof of security to show its strength against both passive and active adversaries. Compared with the previous well-known protocols, SAKA has less number of steps and less computation cost. However, considering the total execution time, SAKA is not the most efficient method, since it does not provide parties with parallel computation. In this paper, we present parallelizable simple authenticated key agreement protocol for improving the efficiency of the SAKA while maintaining provable security.
