Journal ArticleDOI
Close relationship between spongiform change and ubiquitin-positive granular structures in diffuse Lewy body disease
Eizo Iseki,Feng Li,Kenji Kosaka +2 more
TL;DR: The occurrence of spongiform change characteristic to DLBD suggests that the large pyramidal neurons degenerate more rapidly in DLBD than in ATD, which is similar to that of ubiquitin-positive granular structures in non-demented cases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Japanese Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease patients exhibiting high incidence of the E200K PRNP mutation and located in the basin of a river
Tomohiro Miyakawa,Ken Inoue,Eizo Iseki,Chiaki Kawanishi,Naoya Sugiyama,Hideki Onishi,Yoshiteru Yamada,Kyoko Suzuki,Kiyoshi Iwabuchi,Kenji Kosaka +9 more
TL;DR: The hypothesis that the phenotypes of CJD patients with the PRNP mutations are linked to the position of the mutation, but not related to ethnic or environmental factors is supported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Parvalbumin-immunoreactive neurons in the cortex in Pick's disease.
TL;DR: It is suggested that PV-Ir neurons in the cortex are not affected in PD brains, and the possibility that the damage of PV- Ir neurons might be comparatively selective for ATD brains is suggested.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of zonisamide on parkinsonism in patients with dementia with Lewy bodies: A phase 3 randomized clinical trial.
Miho Murata,Toshinari Odawara,Kazuko Hasegawa,Ritsuko Kajiwara,Hisao Takeuchi,Masaaki Tagawa,Kenji Kosaka +6 more
TL;DR: Daily administration of 25- or 50-mg zonisamide significantly improved motor function compared with placebo; both doses were safe and well tolerated in patients with DLB.
