Journal ArticleDOI
Morphometrical reappraisal of motor neuron system of Pick's disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis with dementia.
TL;DR: Results seem to indicate that LA-PB(-) and ALS-D belong to the same spectrum and consist of subgroups with ub-inclusions and involvement of motor neuron system in common.
Journal ArticleDOI
123I-MIBG myocardial scintigraphy for the diagnosis of DLB: a multicentre 3-year follow-up study.
Junji Komatsu,Miharu Samuraki,Kenichi Nakajima,Heii Arai,Hiroyuki Arai,Tetsuaki Arai,Takashi Asada,Hiroshige Fujishiro,Haruo Hanyu,Osamu Iizuka,Eizo Iseki,Kenichi Kashihara,Kenji Kosaka,Hirotaka Maruno,Katsuyoshi Mizukami,Yoshikuni Mizuno,Etsuro Mori,Hiroyuki Nakamura,Seigo Nakano,Kenji Nakashima,Yoshiyuki Nishio,Satoshi Orimo,Akira Takahashi,Junichi Taki,Takahiko Tokuda,Katsuya Urakami,Kumiko Utsumi,Kenji Wada,Yukihiko Washimi,Shouhei Yamashina,Junichi Yamasaki,Mitsuhiro Yoshita,Masahito Yamada +32 more
TL;DR: High correlation between abnormal cardiac sympathetic activity evaluated with 123I-MIBG myocardial scintigraphy at baseline and the clinical diagnosis of probable DLB at 3-year follow-up was confirmed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Accumulation of NACP/alpha-synuclein in lewy body disease and multiple system atrophy.
Mikio Shoji,Yasuo Harigaya,Atsushi Sasaki,Kenji Uéda,Koji Ishiguro,Etsuro Matsubara,Mitsunori Watanabe,Masaki Ikeda,Mitsuyasu Kanai,Yasushi Tomidokoro,Masami Shizuka,Masakuni Amari,Kenji Kosaka,Yoichi Nakazato,Koichi Okamoto,Shunsaku Hirai +15 more
TL;DR: Completely different types of NACP/α-synuclein accumulation in Parkinson's disease/DLBD and MSA suggest that accumulation is a major step in the pathological cascade of both diseases and provides novel strategies for the development of therapies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nasu-Hakola's disease (membranous lipodystrophy). A case report.
TL;DR: A 29-year-old Japanese woman whose younger sister had been affected with typical Nasu-Hakola's disease with skeletal and neuropsychiatric sysdromes and membranocystic lesions in the bones developed forgetfulness and lack of initiative as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cdk5 and munc-18/p67 co-localization in early stage neurofibrillary tangles-bearing neurons in Alzheimer type dementia brains.
TL;DR: It is suggested that cyclin-dependent kinase (cdk) 5 is activated by p67 at the early stage of N FT formation and accelerates NFT formation in hippocampus and temporal lobes of Alzheimer's disease patients.
