Trends in pediatric epilepsy surgery in Europe between 2008 and 2015: Country-, center-, and age-specific variation.
Carmen Barba,JH Cross,Kees P.J. Braun,Massimo Cossu,Kerstin Alexandra Klotz,Salvatore De Masi,Maria Angeles Perez Jiménez,Eija Gaily,Nicola Specchio,Pedro Cabral,Joseph Toulouse,Petia Dimova,Domenica Battaglia,Elena Freri,Alessandro Consales,Elisabetta Cesaroni,O Tarta-Arsene,Antonio Gil-Nagel,Ioana Mindruta,Giancarlo Di Gennaro,Marco Giulioni,Martin Tisdall,Christin Eltze,Muhammad Zubair Tahir,Floor E. TL;DR: To profile European trends in pediatric epilepsy surgery (<16 years of age) between 2008 and 2015, data is collected on hospital admissions, admissions to intensive care units, and waiting times for surgery.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of cannabidiol on brivaracetam plasma levels.
TL;DR: A case series of five patients receiving adjunctive treatment with CBD showed increases in brivaracetam (BRV) levels by 95% to 280%.
Journal ArticleDOI
Scalp Ripples Can Predict Development of Epilepsy After First Unprovoked Seizure in Childhood.
TL;DR: High frequency oscillations are prospectively evaluated the predictive value of HFOs for developing epilepsy in scalp electroencephalogram (EEG) of children after a first unprovoked seizure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Efficacy and Tolerance of Synthetic Cannabidiol for Treatment of Drug Resistant Epilepsy.
Kerstin Alexandra Klotz,Daniel Grob,Martin S. Hirsch,Birgitta Metternich,Andreas Schulze-Bonhage,Julia Jacobs +5 more
TL;DR: Efficacy and tolerance in the study of synthetic CBD treatment in pharmacoresistant epilepsy is similar to open label studies using plant derived CBD, which might be a reasonable alternative to plant derived cannabidiol.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interictal spikes with and without high-frequency oscillation have different single-neuron correlates.
Tim Guth,Lukas Kunz,Armin Brandt,Matthias Dümpelmann,Kerstin Alexandra Klotz,Peter C. Reinacher,Peter C. Reinacher,Andreas Schulze-Bonhage,Julia Jacobs,Jan Schönberger +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a single-neuron level analysis of IEDs was performed in patients with temporal lobe epilepsy, and the authors found that HFO-IEDs were characterized by a pronounced pre-peak increase in firing, which coincided with the preferential occurrence of HFOs.
