Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis and Function of 3-Phosphorylated Inositol Lipids
Bart Vanhaesebroeck,Sally J. Leevers,Khatereh Ahmadi,John F. Timms,Roy Katso,Paul C. Driscoll,Rudiger Woscholski,Peter J. Parker,Michael D. Waterfield +8 more
TL;DR: This review is focused on the 3-phosphoinositide lipids, the synthesis of which is acutely triggered by extracellular stimuli, the enzymes responsible for their synthesis and metabolism, and their cell biological roles.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cellular function of phosphoinositide 3-kinases: Implications for development, immunity, homeostasis, and cancer
TL;DR: This review uses transgenic and knockout mouse studies where either PI3K or its signaling components are deregulated as a framework to build a profile of PI3k function within both the cell and the organism and focuses, in particular, on the role ofPI3K in cell regulation, immunity, and development.
Journal ArticleDOI
Human Phosphoinositide 3-Kinase C2β, the Role of Calcium and the C2 Domain in Enzyme Activity
Alexandre Arcaro,Stefano Volinia,Marketa Zvelebil,Robert Stein,Sandra J. Watton,Meredith J. Layton,Ivan Gout,Khatereh Ahmadi,Julian Downward,Michael D. Waterfield +9 more
TL;DR: The cDNA for a human Class II PI 3-kinase with a C2 domain was cloned from a U937 monocyte cDNA library and the enzyme expressed in mammalian and insect cells suggesting a novel role for Ca2+ ions in phosphate transfer reactions.
