Mitigation and Adaptation Strategies for Global Change

The link between protected areas and tourism is as old as the history of protected areas. Though the relationship is complex and sometimes adversarial, tourism is always a critical component to consider in the establishment and management of protected areas. These guidelines aim to build an understanding of protected area tourism, and its management. They provide both a theoretical structure and practical guidelines for managers. The underlying aim is to ensure that tourism contributes to the purposes of protected areas and does not undermine them.

Moving towards a sustainable environment: The dynamic linkage between natural resources, human capital, urbanization, economic growth, and ecological footprint in China

The present study was designed to analyze comparative economics of hybrid rice and basmati in the core rice growing area of Punjab. Cross-data was collected through well-structured questionnaires from 80 farmers during May and June 2011.Study results reveal that higher yield and less time required for maturity in production were the main reasons for planting of hybrid rice. Hybrid rice occupied 3.6 acres whereas area under basmati was 5.9 acres of the total farm area. Farmers obtained above 60 percent increase in yield of hybrid rice. Results show that cost of production of basmati rice was estimated as Rs.37364 per acre and total revenue was Rs.44768 per acre. The benefit cost ratio of basmati rice was 1.20 and that of hybrid rice was 1.80, implying that hybrid rice has brought comparatively more economic benefits to the farmers as compared to basmati in the study area. Shortage of buyers, much costly poor quality hybrid seed, late payment and higher transportation costs are among major constraints in rice production and marketing.

Does productivity matter in the adoption of hybrid rice? a comparative study

Digital game-based learning strategy is now widely used in various fields such as education, marketing and advertising. This learning strategy has attracted great attention from scholars and practitioners in recent years due to its effectiveness in various educational fields. As more research studies favored the constructive impact of games on the learning process, more and more investigators are dedicated to developing digital educational games to enhance learning skills for 21st century requirements. The objectives of the current investigation were: to present a comprehensive and systematic review of the literature of previous studies on the effectiveness of digital game-based learning strategy in a higher educational context; to report the role of various adult learning theories in digital game-based learning strategy; to highlight some barriers and their solutions in digital game-based learning strategy. A total of 20 previous studies on digital game-based learning strategy in higher educational perspectives published from 2008-2021 were selected by inclusion and exclusion criteria for conducting this investigation. The results of the current investigation revealed that digital game-based learning strategy has deep effects on the learning skills of the learners in higher educational perspectives. The digital game-based learning strategy is a better option for the improvement of engagement of learners towards learning and critical thinking skills.

Effectiveness of Digital Game Based Learning Strategy in Higher Educational Perspectives

Adoption of better management practices is considered an important method to achieve sustainable crop production. The study in hand intends to verify the positive contribution of better management practices on sugarcane production using cross-sectional data collected from Faisalabad district. Cobb Douglas production function was used to determine the impact of better management practices and other traditional farm inputs on sugarcane yield. Results show that better management practices relating to efficient irrigation water and fertilizer use were found significantly contributing in sugarcane productivity. Seed, fertilizer and irrigation water were also positively associated with crop yield. The comparison of adopter and nonadopters shows that Adopters of better management practices were found better performing compared to non-adopters in terms of yield, total variable cost and profitability. The study has important policy ramifications that strengthening and building capacity of farmers in adoption of better management practices can lead to sustainable crop production and protect environment as well.

Better Management Practices and Sugarcane Productivity: An Econometric Analysis

Study was conducted in main turmeric producing pocket of Pakistan to estimate cost of turmeric production, assess issues in cultivation and marketing sectors and work out feasibility of establishing turmeric grinding units. For this purpose, primary data with the help of well-structured questionnaires covering cultivation and marketing aspects of turmeric were collected from 50 turmeric farmers. Focused group discussions with 10 processors from local trade market were also arranged in order to supplement the sampled data particularly helping in feasibility analysis of grinding unit. Descriptive statistics, economic analysis and feasibility analysis of turmeric grinding unit were performed. Results indicate that output prices of turmeric remain highly un-stable during the season affecting production and processing to a great extent. Cost of production estimates across small as well large farm categories reflects that cultivation of turmeric despite the seasons’ lowest market prices (Rupees 696 per maund) of raw turmeric is profitable only to owners of land from both small and large farming categories. In other words, when output prices of raw turmeric in the past were reasonably higher (up to Rs.1000 per maund) then all types of farmers i.e. land owners as well as owner cum tenant had earned almost double returns than costs. On one hand, un-predictable and fluctuating trend in output prices and under-weighing practices by the commission agents and on the other hand, existence of profit margin in processing were inducing growers and processors to add value to raw turmeric for their enhanced incomes. Moreover, processing trend was increasing day-by-day in the study area. Therefore, market linkages need revival among stakeholders. Similarly, national sensitization on turmeric processing could help create awareness and get the attention of government for policy drive.

We live in the era of technology, and advancement in technology is growing exponentially. In Pakistan, especially in Sindh, many people prefer to speak than write. People are not well aware of computational and other global languages. So, that's why they face so many difficulties typing and then converting it into the Sindhi language. Especially in offices/organizations where Sindhi is the first language used in speaking and typing. There drafting huge consumes too much time. They face many difficulties such as finding spelling correct words and so on. People with medical deficiencies and disabilities will also get a beneficial source of help from this tool. This tool can handle all these difficulties and solve all the discussed problems. This project aims to develop a web-based application that tries to overcome the disadvantages of the other available applications. The application is generic, meaning it may work solely for a specific regional language speaker in any country in the world. The main objective of the work presented throughout this report is to develop an enterprise and open platform for the nation. We are using the Convolutional Neural Network and API in the development phase. Advance python libraries detect the user's speech, and then the conversion will take one into text.
