Journal ArticleDOI
SF3B1 mutation identifies a distinct subset of myelodysplastic syndrome with ring sideroblasts.
Luca Malcovati,Mohsen Karimi,Elli Papaemmanuil,Ilaria Ambaglio,Martin Jädersten,Monika Jansson,Chiara Elena,Anna Gallì,Gunilla Walldin,Matteo G. Della Porta,Klas Raaschou-Jensen,Erica Travaglino,Klaus Kallenbach,Daniela Pietra,Viktor Ljungström,Simona Conte,Emanuela Boveri,Rosangela Invernizzi,Richard Rosenquist,Peter J. Campbell,Mario Cazzola,Eva Hellstrom Lindberg +21 more
TL;DR: SF3B1 mutation identifies a distinct MDS subtype that is unlikely to develop detrimental subclonal mutations and is characterized by indolent clinical course and favorable outcome.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bacterial biofilm in chronic lesions of hidradenitis suppurativa.
Hans Christian Ring,Lene Bay,Martin Nilsson,Klaus Kallenbach,I.M. Miller,Ditte Marie Saunte,Thomas Bjarnsholt,Thomas Bjarnsholt,Tim Tolker-Nielsen,Gregor B.E. Jemec +9 more
TL;DR: Chronic nonhealing or recurrent inflammatory lesions, reminiscent of infection but recalcitrant to antibiotic therapy, generally characterize biofilm‐driven diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Optical coherence tomography in optic neuritis and multiple sclerosis: a review.
TL;DR: OCT is a promising new tool for evaluating atrophy in patients with ON and MS and one of two studies found a significant correlation with amplitudes of visual evoked potentials, neither correlated with latencies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Normal Skin Microbiota is Altered in Pre-clinical Hidradenitis Suppurativa.
Hans Christian Ring,Lene Bay,Klaus Kallenbach,I.M. Miller,Errol P. Prens,Ditte Marie Saunte,Thomas Bjarnsholt,Gregor B.E. Jemec +7 more
TL;DR: Surprisingly, it is found that fewer bacteria and less biofilm are detected in patients with HS compared with healthy controls, suggesting that the reduced microbiota in Patients with HS may play an important role in the early course of the disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Simvastatin improves final visual outcome in acute optic neuritis: a randomized study:
Anna Tsakiri,Klaus Kallenbach,Dan Fuglø,Benedikte Wanscher,Henrik Larsson,Jette L. Frederiksen +5 more
TL;DR: This study provides Class I evidence that simvastatin 80 mg daily is well tolerated and possibly effective in patients with acute ON and has a beneficial effect on VEP.
