Freshwater fluxes in the East Greenland Current: A decade of observations

TL;DR: In this paper, a decade of mooring measurements in the western Fram Strait at 78°50′N shows that the annual mean liquid freshwater flux (FWF) in the East Greenland Current is relatively constant at −1274 ± 453 km3 yr−1 (−40.4 ± 14.4 mSv) despite the fact that the average total volume transport of the EGC has more than doubled since 2001.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impact of recirculation on the East Greenland Current in Fram Strait: Results from moored current meter measurements between 1997 and 2009

TL;DR: In this article, a mooring array in the East Greenland Current (EGC) in Fram Strait was moved along isobaths from 79°N to 78 ° 50 ′ N in 2002 to line up with moorings in the eastern Fram Strait.
Journal ArticleDOI

Closing the loop – Approaches to monitoring the state of the Arctic Mediterranean during the International Polar Year 2007–2008

TL;DR: For example, during the 4th International Polar Year 2007-2009 (IPY), the largest retreat of Arctic sea ice since satellite observations started in 1979 was accompanied by other signs of a changing Arctic, including the unexpectedly rapid transpolar drift of the Tara schooner, a general thinning of Arctic Sea ice and a double-dip minimum of the Arctic Oscillation at the end of 2009.
