Journal ArticleDOI
Purification of binder of sperm protein 1 (BSP1) and its effects on bovine in vitro embryo development after fertilization with ejaculated and epididymal sperm
P. Rodriguez-Villamil,V. Hoyos-Marulanda,Jorge André Matias Martins,A.N. Oliveira,L. H. Aguiar,Frederico Bruno Mendes Batista Moreno,A. L. M. C. S. Velho,Ana Cristina de Oliveira Monteiro-Moreira,Renato de Azevedo Moreira,Ilka M. Vasconcelos,Marcelo Bertolini,Arlindo A. Moura +11 more
TL;DR: P purified BSP1 from bull seminal vesicles was able to bind to and induce capacitation of ejaculated and epididymal sperm and allowed proper cleavage and embryo development, with the effects being modulated by previous exposure or not of spermatozoa to seminal plasma.
Journal ArticleDOI
Developmental Outcome and Related Abnormalities in Goats: Comparison Between Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer- and In Vivo-Derived Concepti During Pregnancy Through Term
L. T. Martins,Saul Gaudencio Neto,Kaio César Simiano Tavares,Carlos Enrique Méndez Calderón,L. H. Aguiar,Cicera R. Lazzarotto,Felipe Ledur Ongaratto,V. H. V. Rodrigues,I. S. Carneiro,Rafael Rossetto,A. P. Almeida,César Carneiro Linhares Fernandes,Davide Rondina,Ana Christina de Oliveira Dias,Jocelei Maria Chies,Irina A. Polejaeva,José Luiz Rodrigues,Fabiana Forell,Luciana Relly Bertolini,Marcelo Bertolini +19 more
TL;DR: Overall, goat cloning showed losses and abnormality patterns similar to the AOS in cloned cattle and sheep, which have not been previously well recognized in goats.
Journal ArticleDOI
Morphometric developmental pattern of bovine handmade cloned concepti in late pregnancy.
R. P. C. Gerger,F. C. Zago,Eduardo S. Ribeiro,S. Gaudencio Neto,L. T. Martins,L. H. Aguiar,V. H. V. Rodrigues,F H Furlan,Ivens Ortigari,Roberto Daniel Sainz,Calvin L. Ferrell,M. A. Miglino,Carlos Eduardo Ambrósio,José Luiz Rodrigues,Rafael Rossetto,Fabiana Forell,Luciana Relly Bertolini,Marcelo Bertolini +17 more
TL;DR: Morphological changes in cloned concepti likely affected placental function and metabolism, disrupting the placental constraining mechanism on fetal growth in mid- to late pregnancy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Heat stress impairs in vitro development of preantral follicles of cattle
TL;DR: All stages of growing preantral follicles of cattle were susceptible to negative effects of heat stress, and follicles at the secondary stage of development were most sensitive, followed by early secondary and primary follicles.
Journal ArticleDOI
A fast and simple method for the polymerase chain reaction-based sexing of livestock embryos.
Kaio César Simiano Tavares,I. S. Carneiro,D. B. Rios,Cristiano Feltrin,A.K.C. Ribeiro,S. Gaudencio-Neto,L. T. Martins,L. H. Aguiar,Cicera R. Lazzarotto,C. E. M. Calderón,Francisco Eder de Moura Lopes,Louhanna Pinheiro Rodrigues Teixeira,Marcelo Bertolini,Luciana Relly Bertolini +13 more
TL;DR: The aim of this study was to couple a fast and inexpensive DNA extraction protocol with a practical biopsy approach to create a simple, quick, effective, and dependable embryo sexing procedure.
