F. Hilton,Raymond Armante,Thomas August,Christopher D. Barnet,A. Bouchard,Claude Camy-Peyret,Virginie Capelle,Lieven Clarisse,Cathy Clerbaux,Pierre-François Coheur,Andrew Collard,Cyril Crevoisier,Gaëlle Dufour,David P. Edwards,Francois Faijan,Nadia Fourrié,Antonia Gambacorta,Mitchell D. Goldberg,Vincent Guidard,Daniel Hurtmans,Sam Illingworth,Nicole Jacquinet-Husson,Tobias Kerzenmacher,Dieter Klaes,L. Lavanant,Guido Masiello,Marco Matricardi,A. P. McNally,Stuart M. Newman,Edward Pavelin,Sébastien Payan,Eric Péquignot,Sophie Peyridieu,Thierry Phulpin,John Remedios,Peter Schlüssel,Carmine Serio,L. Larrabee Strow,Claudia J. Stubenrauch,Jonathan P. Taylor,David C. Tobin,Walter Wolf,D. K. Zhou +42 more
TL;DR: The Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer (IASI) as discussed by the authors is the main sounding component of EUMETSAT's Metop-A satellite, which was launched in October 2006.
Journal ArticleDOI
Towards IASI-New Generation (IASI-NG): impact of improved spectral resolution and radiometric noise on the retrieval of thermodynamic, chemistry and climate variables
Cyril Crevoisier,Cathy Clerbaux,Vincent Guidard,Thierry Phulpin,R. Armante,Blandine Barret,Claude Camy-Peyret,Jean-Pierre Chaboureau,Pierre-François Coheur,Laurent Crépeau,Gaëlle Dufour,Laurent C.-Labonnote,L. Lavanant,Juliette Hadji-Lazaro,Hervé Herbin,Nicole Jacquinet-Husson,Sébastien Payan,Eric Péquignot,Clémence Pierangelo,Pasquale Sellitto,Pasquale Sellitto,Claudia J. Stubenrauch +21 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an improvement of spectral resolution and radiometric noise is proposed for the IASI-New Generation (IASI-NG) instrument, which has the potential for strongly benefiting the numerical weather prediction, chemistry and climate communities now connected through the European GMES/Copernicus initiative.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cloud mask via cumulative discriminant analysis applied to satellite infrared observations: scientific basis and initial evaluation
Umberto Amato,L. Lavanant,Giuliano Liuzzi,Guido Masiello,Carmine Serio,Rolf Stuhlmann,Stephen Tjemkes +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a classification method (cumulative discriminant analysis) for the high-spectral-resolution infrared sounder (IRS) planned for the geostationary METEOSAT (Meteorological Satellite) Third Generation platform and used IASI (Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer) data as a proxy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of cloud products within IASI footprints for the assimilation of cloudy radiances
L. Lavanant,Nadia Fourrié,Antonia Gambacorta,G. Grieco,Sylvain Heilliette,F. Hilton,Min-Jeong Kim,A. P. McNally,H. Nishihata,Ed Pavelin,Florence Rabier +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compared different methods of deriving cloud properties in the footprint of the Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer (IASI), onboard the European MetOp satellite.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of a revised IASI channel selection for cloudy retrievals with a focus on the Mediterranean basin
TL;DR: The goal of this article is to add new channels to the existing IASI operational channel selection, aimed at improving the data assimilation in cloudy conditions and the simultaneous retrieval of cloud microphysical variables, specifically liquid and ice water contents.
