Self-renewing resident cardiac macrophages limit adverse remodeling following myocardial infarction
Sarah A. Dick,Jillian A. Macklin,Sara Nejat,Abdul Momen,Xavier Clemente-Casares,Marwan G. Althagafi,Marwan G. Althagafi,Jinmiao Chen,Jinmiao Chen,Crystal Kantores,Siyavash Hosseinzadeh,Siyavash Hosseinzadeh,Laura Aronoff,Laura Aronoff,Anthony Wong,Anthony Wong,Rysa Zaman,Rysa Zaman,Iulia Barbu,Iulia Barbu,Rickvinder Besla,Rickvinder Besla,Kory J. Lavine,Babak Razani,Babak Razani,Florent Ginhoux,Florent Ginhoux,Mansoor Husain,Myron I. Cybulsky,Myron I. Cybulsky,Clinton S. Robbins,Slava Epelman +31 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that at steady state, TIMD4+LYVE1+MHC-IIloCCR2− resident cardiac macrophages self-renew with negligible blood monocyte input and a hierarchy of monocyte contribution to functionally distinct macrophage subsets is revealed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Three tissue resident macrophage subsets coexist across organs with conserved origins and life cycles
Sarah A. Dick,Anthony Wong,Homaira Hamidzada,Sara Nejat,Robert Nechanitzky,Shabana Vohra,Brigitte Mueller,Rysa Zaman,Crystal Kantores,Laura Aronoff,Abdul Momen,Duygu Nechanitzky,Wanda Y. Li,Parameswaran Ramachandran,Sarah Q. Crome,Burkhard Becher,Myron I. Cybulsky,Filio Billia,Shaf Keshavjee,Seema Mital,Clint S. Robbins,Tak W. Mak,Slava Epelman +22 more
TL;DR: The existence of three murine macrophage subpopulations based on common life cycle properties and core gene signatures are defined and provide a common starting point to understand tissue macrophages heterogeneity.
Journal ArticleDOI
A CD103+ Conventional Dendritic Cell Surveillance System Prevents Development of Overt Heart Failure during Subclinical Viral Myocarditis.
Xavier Clemente-Casares,Siyavash Hosseinzadeh,Iulia Barbu,Sarah A. Dick,Jillian A. Macklin,Jillian A. Macklin,Yiming Wang,Abdul Momen,Crystal Kantores,Laura Aronoff,Laura Aronoff,Maylis Farno,Tiffany M. Lucas,Joan Avery,Dorrin Zarrin-Khat,Heidi Elsaesser,Babak Razani,Kory J. Lavine,Mansoor Husain,David G. Brooks,Clinton S. Robbins,Myron I. Cybulsky,Myron I. Cybulsky,Slava Epelman +23 more
TL;DR: The murine heart contains two major conventional dendritic cell subsets, CD103+ and CD11b+, which differentially relied on local proliferation and precursor recruitment to maintain their tissue residency, and a BATF3‐dependent cDC surveillance system that prevents the transition of subclinical viral myocarditis to overt heart failure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Selective loss of resident macrophage-derived insulin-like growth factor-1 abolishes adaptive cardiac growth to stress.
Rysa Zaman,Rysa Zaman,Homaira Hamidzada,Homaira Hamidzada,Crystal Kantores,Anthony Wong,Anthony Wong,Sarah A. Dick,Yiming Wang,Abdul Momen,Laura Aronoff,Laura Aronoff,Julia Lin,Julia Lin,Babak Razani,Seema Mital,Filio Billia,Kory J. Lavine,Sara Nejat,Slava Epelman +19 more
TL;DR: In this paper, single-cell transcriptomics of fate-mapped self-renewing cardiac resident macrophages (RMs) revealed transcriptionally diverse cell states with a core repertoire of reparative gene programs, including high expression of insulin-like growth factor-1 (Igf1).
Journal ArticleDOI
DICER1 syndrome: Approach to testing and management at a large pediatric tertiary care center.
Kalene van Engelen,Anita Villani,Jonathan D. Wasserman,Laura Aronoff,Mary-Louise C. Greer,Marta Tijerin Bueno,Bailey Gallinger,Raymond H. Kim,Ronald Grant,M. Stephen Meyn,David Malkin,Harriet Druker +11 more
TL;DR: To expand the current knowledge of DICER1 syndrome and to propose criteria for genetic testing based on experience at a pediatric tertiary care center.
