Expression of the miR-17-92 polycistron in chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) CD34+ cells
Letizia Venturini,Karin Battmer,Mirco Castoldi,Beate Schultheis,Andreas Hochhaus,Martina U. Muckenthaler,Arnold Ganser,Matthias Eder,Michaela Scherr +8 more
TL;DR: BCR-ABL- and c-MYC-dependent regulation of miRNA expression in chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is reported using microarray analysis (miCHIP) and miRNA-specific quantitative real-time reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (miR-qRT-PCR).
Journal ArticleDOI
Lentivirus-mediated antagomir expression for specific inhibition of miRNA function
Michaela Scherr,Letizia Venturini,Karin Battmer,Michael Schaller-Schoenitz,Daniel Schaefer,Iris Dallmann,Arnold Ganser,Matthias Eder +7 more
TL;DR: The induction of stable loss-of-function phenotypes for specific miRNAs by lentivirus-mediated antagomir expression is described and inhibition of miRNA function correlates to reduction of ‘miRNA’ amplification by miRNA-specific quantitative RT-PCR.
Journal ArticleDOI
Signal transducer and activator of transcription 3-mediated regulation of miR-199a-5p links cardiomyocyte and endothelial cell function in the heart: a key role for ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes
Arash Haghikia,Ewa Missol-Kolka,Dimitrios Tsikas,Letizia Venturini,Stephanie Brundiers,Mirko Castoldi,Martina U. Muckenthaler,Matthias Eder,Britta Stapel,Thomas Thum,Aiden Haghikia,Elisabeth Petrasch-Parwez,Helmut Drexler,Denise Hilfiker-Kleiner,Michaela Scherr +14 more
TL;DR: This study identifies a novel pathophysiological circuit in the heart between reduced STAT3 protein levels, increased miR-199a expression, and subsequent impairment of the UPS that disrupts CM sarcomere structure and impairs via the release of ADMA endothelial cell function.
Journal ArticleDOI
Activation of miR-17-92 by NK-like homeodomain proteins suppresses apoptosis via reduction of E2F1 in T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia
Stefan Nagel,Letizia Venturini,Grzegorz K. Przybylski,Piotr Grabarczyk,Christian A. Schmidt,Corinna Meyer,Hans G. Drexler,Roderick A.F. MacLeod,Michaela Scherr +8 more
TL;DR: Analysis of miR17-92 in T-ALL patients indicated elevated expression in those bearing TLX1/3 positive cells, and data support an activatory effect of NK-like homeodomain proteins on pri-miR-17- 92 expression and concomitantly reduced E2F1 protein levels, thereby enhancing survival of leukemic T-cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comprehensive analysis of homeobox genes in Hodgkin lymphoma cell lines identifies dysregulated expression of HOXB9 mediated via ERK5 signaling and BMI1.
Stefan Nagel,Christof Burek,Letizia Venturini,Michaela Scherr,Hilmar Quentmeier,Corinna Meyer,Andreas Rosenwald,Hans G. Drexler,Roderick A.F. MacLeod +8 more
TL;DR: Analysis of homeobox gene expression in Hodgkin lymphoma cell lines identified up-regulation of HOXB9 in HL mediated by constitutively active ERK5 signaling which may represent novel therapeutic targets in HL.
