Giant anisotropic nonlinear optical response in transition metal monopnictide Weyl semimetals
Liang Wu,Liang Wu,Shreyas Patankar,Shreyas Patankar,Takahiro Morimoto,Nityan Nair,Eric Thewalt,Eric Thewalt,A. Little,A. Little,James Analytis,James Analytis,Joel E. Moore,Joel E. Moore,Joseph Orenstein,Joseph Orenstein +15 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an optical second-harmonic generation study of a series of transition metal monopnictide Weyl semimetals reveals a giant, anisotropic nonlinear optical response in these systems.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantized Faraday and Kerr rotation and axion electrodynamics of a 3D topological insulator
TL;DR: Lower the chemical potential of three-dimensional Bi2Se3 films to ~30 meV above the Dirac point and probe their low-energy electrodynamic response in the presence of magnetic fields with high-precision time-domain terahertz polarimetry, giving evidence for axion electrodynamics and the topological magnetoelectric effect.
Journal ArticleDOI
Large magneto-optical Kerr effect and imaging of magnetic octupole domains in an antiferromagnetic metal
Tomoya Higo,Huiyuan Man,Daniel B. Gopman,Liang Wu,Liang Wu,Liang Wu,Takashi Koretsune,Takashi Koretsune,Olaf M. J. van 't Erve,Yury P. Kabanov,Yury P. Kabanov,Dylan Rees,Dylan Rees,Yufan Li,Michi-To Suzuki,Shreyas Patankar,Shreyas Patankar,Muhammad Ikhlas,Chia-Ling Chien,Ryotaro Arita,Robert D. Shull,Joseph Orenstein,Joseph Orenstein,Satoru Nakatsuji +23 more
TL;DR: The first observation of the magneto-optical Kerr effect in an AF metal is reported, finding that the non-collinear AF metal Mn3Sn exhibits a large zero-field Kerr rotation angle of 20 mdeg at room temperature, comparable to ferromagnetic metals.
Journal ArticleDOI
Terahertz response and colossal Kerr rotation from the surface states of the topological insulator Bi2Se3.
R. Valdés Aguilar,Andreas V. Stier,Andreas V. Stier,Wei Liu,L. S. Bilbro,Deepu George,Namrata Bansal,Liang Wu,J. Cerne,Andrea Markelz,S. Oh,N. P. Armitage +11 more
TL;DR: The THz response of thin films of the topological insulator Bi2Se3 exhibit robust properties including narrow, almost thickness-independent Drude peaks, and an unprecedentedly large polarization rotation of linearly polarized light reflected in an applied magnetic field.
Journal ArticleDOI
A sudden collapse in the transport lifetime across the topological phase transition in (Bi 1-x In x ) 2 Se 3
Liang Wu,Matthew Brahlek,R. Valdés Aguilar,Andreas V. Stier,C. M. Morris,Yuval Lubashevsky,L. S. Bilbro,Namrata Bansal,S. Oh,N. P. Armitage +9 more
TL;DR: The quantum phase transition from a topological to a conventional insulator in In-doped Bi2Se3 is characterized by a sudden change in the transport lifetime, measured by means of optical spectroscopy as discussed by the authors.
