The merging/AGN connection: a case for 3D spectroscopy

TL;DR: In this paper, an ongoing study of the connection between galaxy merging/interaction and AGN activity, based on integral field spectroscopy, is discussed, focusing on the search for AGN ionization in the central regions of mergers, previously not classified as AGNs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synergies of THESEUS with the large facilities of the 2030s and guest observer opportunities.

TL;DR: The proposed THESEUS mission as discussed by the authors will vastly expand the capabilities to monitor the high-energy sky, and exploit large samples of gamma-ray bursts to probe the early Universe back to the first generation of stars, and to advance multi-messenger astrophysics by detecting and localizing the counterparts of gravitational waves and cosmic neutrino sources.
Journal ArticleDOI

Star Formation in Damped Lyman α Selected Galaxies

TL;DR: In this article, an ongoing survey to study galaxies associated with damped Lyman-α (DLA) systems at redshifts z>2 was presented, where Integral field spectroscopy was used to search for Lyα emission line objects at the wavelengths where the emission from the quasars have been absorbed by the DLAs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dark matter-rich early-type galaxies in the CASSOWARY 5 strong lensing system

TL;DR: In this article, a source at redshift 1.069 is lensed into four detected images by two early-type galaxies at Redshift 0.388 and 0.8 +/- 0.1.
Journal ArticleDOI

Testing the fragmentation limit in the Upper Sco association

TL;DR: In this paper, the results of a deep (J ~ 21 mag at 5 sigma) infrared photometric survey of a 0.95 square degree area in the central region of the Upper Sco association were presented.
