Toward a time-dependent magnetic reconnection model

TL;DR: Magnetic field reconnection plays a crucial role in determining the topology of magnetic fields in cosmic plasmas and also provides an efficient way for the conversion of magnetic energy into kinetic energy as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Non-neutral field-aligned current sheet and the auroral electric field

TL;DR: In this paper, the first field-aligned non-neutral current sheet model in a hot plasma was proposed, in which the electrons are allowed to be nonadiabatic and the current in this model has a perpendicular (i.e. diamagnetic) as well as a parallel component to the external magnetic field.
