Bandgap opening in graphene induced by patterned hydrogen adsorption
Richard Balog,Bjarke Jørgensen,Louis Nilsson,Mie Andersen,E. D. L. Rienks,Marco Bianchi,Mattia Fanetti,Erik Lægsgaard,Alessandro Baraldi,Alessandro Baraldi,Silvano Lizzit,Zeljko Sljivancanin,Flemming Besenbacher,Bjørk Hammer,Thomas Garm Pedersen,Philip Hofmann,Liv Hornekær +16 more
TL;DR: The existence of a bandgap opening in graphene is demonstrated, induced by the patterned adsorption of atomic hydrogen onto the Moiré superlattice positions of graphene grown on an Ir(111) substrate.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stability of the Bi 2 Se 3 (111) topological state: Electron-phonon and electron-defect scattering
Richard C. Hatch,Marco Bianchi,Dandan Guan,Dandan Guan,Shining Bao,Jianli Mi,Bo B. Iversen,Louis Nilsson,Liv Hornekær,Philip Hofmann +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the electron dynamics of the topological surface state on a photoemission was investigated by temperature-dependent angle-resolved photo-emission, and the electron-phonon coupling strength was determined in a spectral region for which only intraband scattering involving the topologically surface band is possible.
Journal ArticleDOI
Graphene coatings: probing the limits of the one atom thick protection layer.
Louis Nilsson,Mie Andersen,Richard Balog,Erik Lægsgaard,Philip Hofmann,Flemming Besenbacher,Bjørk Hammer,Ivan Stensgaard,Liv Hornekær +8 more
TL;DR: Annealing experiments and density functional theory calculations demonstrate that the basal plane of the graphene stays intact and point to a graphene-mediated mechanism for the H-induced lifting of the reconstruction.
Journal ArticleDOI
In situ Raman spectroscopy of topological insulator Bi 2 Te 3 films with varying thickness
Chun-Xiao Wang,Chun-Xiao Wang,Xie-Gang Zhu,Louis Nilsson,Jing Wen,Guang Wang,Xin-Yan Shan,Qing Zhang,Shulin Zhang,Jin-Feng Jia,Jin-Feng Jia,Qi-Kun Xue +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the Raman spectra of topological insulator Bi2Te 3 films prepared by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) have been measured by an in situ ultrahigh vacuum (UHV)-MBE-Raman spectroscopy system.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interaction between coronene and graphite from temperature-programmed desorption and DFT-vdW calculations:Importance of entropic effects and insights into graphite interlayer binding
J. D. Thrower,Emil E. Friis,Anders L. Skov,Louis Nilsson,Mie Andersen,Lara Ferrighi,Bjarke Jørgensen,S. Baouche,Richard Balog,Bjørk Hammer,Liv Hornekær +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigate the interaction between the coronene molecule and pyrolytic graphite by using temperature-programmed desorption and show how entropic effects play an important role in governing the desorization kinetics for large molecules such as coronene and must be taken into account in order to derive a realistic binding energy.
