Currently, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), basically inorganic-organic hybrid materials, have gained tremendous attention due to their vast applications. MOFs have shown enormous applications in almost every research field. However, the area of designing MOF materials for their biological applications is still an emerging field that needs attention. Titanium-based metal-organic framework (Ti-MOF) materials are used in many research areas due to their structural advantages, such as small particle size and large effective surface area. On the other hand, they have also shown unique advantages such as good biocompatibility, excellent catalytic oxidation and photocatalytic properties and ease of functionalization. This study reviews the recent research progress on Ti-MOFs in therapeutic areas such as antibacterial, oncology, anti-inflammation, and bone injury, which will provide new directions for further research in this biomedical field. Therefore, this article will help scientists working in the particular field to enhance their understanding of Ti-based MOFs for functional biomedical applications.

In situ alkylation or protonation reactions on the thiazolyl-N donors of benzothiazole (btz) and its derivative 2-aminobenzothiazole (abtz) occurred to form four structure directing agents (SDAs), which feature different structure directing abilities and hydrophobicities. The thiazolyl-N alkylated and protonated btz cations direct to form an α-type (AgI2)− iodoargentate chain in (Etbtz)(AgI2) (1), (Prbtz)(AgI2) (2), and (Hbtz)(AgI2) (3), respectively, while the thiazolyl-N protonated abtz cation directs to form a new type of (Ag2I3)− anionic chain in (Habtz)(Ag2I3) (4). Compounds 1 and 4 represent the first noncentrosymmetric (NCS) hybrid iodoargentates with organic S-containing N-heterocycle derivative cations as SDAs. Interaction of [Et4N]2[WSe4] and AgBr in the presence of [Et4N]Br·xH2O in a DMF/MeCN/2-picoline solution (3 : 2 : 1) at room temperature afforded a colorless crystalline compound [Et4N]6[(AgBr)6(μ3-Br)2(μ4-Br)3]Br (1) in 21% yield and a red crystalline compound [Et4N]4[(μ5-WSe4)(AgBr)5(μ-Br)2] (2) in 48% yield. The cluster anion in 1 comprises six AgBr fragments bridged by three bromides and capped by two bromides, forming a trigonal prism structure. The cluster anion in 2 consists of five AgBr fragments coordinated to five edges of the tetrahedral [WSe4]2− along with two bridging bromides connected to each of the two pairs of symmetric silvers, exhibiting a crown-like core structure. The nonlinear optical absorption and refraction of 2 were determined to be α2 = 5.72 × 10−9 m W−1 and n2 = 3.64 × 10−9 esu, respectively.
