Journal ArticleDOI
Identifying the vulnerable plaque: A review of invasive and non-invasive imaging modalities
TL;DR: A variety of imaging modalities, both invasive and non-invasive, have been developed for the assessment of visualization and quantification of atherosclerosis and their clinical potential for assessment of plaque vulnerability is discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Total and free steady-state plasma levels and pharmacokinetics of nifedipine in patients with terminal renal failure.
TL;DR: The total and free steady-state plasma levels of nifedipine in patients with renal failure have been compared with those in subjects with normal renal function and the blood pressure response to a given plasma nifingipine level appeared to be enhanced in renal failure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quality of prescribing in Belgian nursing homes: an electronic assessment of the medication chart
TL;DR: In Belgian nursing homes, the observed high level of drug utilization was associated with potentially inappropriate prescribing and the development of a combined assessment tool and the implementation of a computerized monitoring system of PIMs is highly recommended to improve the quality of prescribing.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of beta-adrenergic stimulation on pulse wave velocity in black and white subjects.
Daniel Lemogoum,Luc M. Van Bortel,Wouter Van den Abeele,Agnieszka Ciarka,Jean-Paul Degaute,Philippe van de Borne,Marc Leeman +6 more
TL;DR: The results of this cross-over study are compatible with the hypothesis of an altered beta-adrenergic sensitivity, which is expressed by a blunted effect of isoproterenol on arterial stiffness in black subjects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association of menopause and hormone replacement therapy with large artery remodeling
Anne Gompel,Pierre Boutouyrie,Robinson Joannides,S. Christin-Maitre,Anna Kearny-Schwartz,Kristian Kunz,Stéphane Laurent,Jean-Marc Boivin,Bruno Pannier,Bernard Pornel,Harry A.J. Struijker-Boudier,Christian Thuillez,Luc M. Van Bortel,Faied Zannad,I. Pithois-Merli,Patrice Jaillon,Tabassome Simon +16 more
TL;DR: The age at menopause, the time since menophere, and the use of HT are independently associated with the thickening and stiffening of the large arteries.
