Journal ArticleDOI
Multiscale pink-beam microCT imaging at the ESRF-ID17 biomedical beamline.
Alberto Mittone,Luca Fardin,Francesca Di Lillo,Michela Fratini,Herwig Requardt,Anthony Mauro,Roberto Arturo Homs-Regojo,P.-A. Douissard,Giacomo E. Barbone,Johannes Stroebel,Mariele Romano,Lorenzo Massimi,Ginevra Begani-Provinciali,Francesca Palermo,Sam Bayat,Alessia Cedola,Paola Coan,Alberto Bravin +17 more
TL;DR: The new microCT station installed at the biomedical beamline ID17 of the European Synchrotron is described and an overview of the preliminary results obtained for different biomedical-imaging applications is given.
Journal ArticleDOI
Micrometer-resolution X-ray tomographic full-volume reconstruction of an intact post-mortem juvenile rat lung
Elena Borisova,Goran Lovric,Goran Lovric,Arttu Miettinen,Arttu Miettinen,Luca Fardin,Sam Bayat,Anders Larsson,Marco Stampanoni,Marco Stampanoni,Johannes C. Schittny,Christian M. Schlepütz +11 more
TL;DR: This work demonstrates a full-volume three-dimensional reconstruction of an intact rat lung under immediate post-mortem conditions and presents the methodology for collecting multiple local tomographies with 360° extended field of view scans followed by locally non-rigid volumetric stitching.
Journal ArticleDOI
Imaging atelectrauma in Ventilator-Induced Lung Injury using 4D X-ray microscopy.
Luca Fardin,Luca Fardin,Luca Fardin,Ludovic Broche,Goran Lovric,Goran Lovric,Alberto Mittone,Olivier Stephanov,Anders Larsson,Alberto Bravin,Alberto Bravin,Sam Bayat,Sam Bayat +12 more
TL;DR: Within-tidal dynamics of cyclic recruitment/derecruitment using synchrotron radiation phase contrast imaging (PCI) were investigated in a model of acute respiratory distress syndrome in 6 anaesthetized and mechanically ventilated New-Zealand White rabbits as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Imaging Regional Lung Structure and Function in Small Animals Using Synchrotron Radiation Phase-Contrast and K-Edge Subtraction Computed Tomography
TL;DR: In this paper , synchrotron radiation imaging methods are described and examples of their application to the study of disease mechanisms in preclinical animal models are presented, which are used to reveal the regional differences in both lung structure and function which are crucial for better understanding of disease mechanism as well as for evaluating treatment in small animal models of lung diseases.
Journal Article
Spatial Distribution of Ventilator Induced Lung Injury at the µm-Scale. An In-Vivo Synchrotron Phase-Contrast Microscopy Study in BALB/c Mic
Goran Lovric,Ludovic Broche,Christian M. Schlepütz,Luca Fardin,Johannes C. Schittny,Anders Larsson,Sam Bayat +6 more
TL;DR: Spatial Distribution of Ventilator Induced Lung Injury at the µm-Scale is studied in an In-Vivo Synchrotron Phase-Contrast Microscopy Study in BALB/c Mic.
