Journal ArticleDOI

Erratum to “Pro/Anti-Inflammatory Cytokine Imbalance in Postischemic Left Ventricular Remodeling”

TL;DR: The authors would like to inform the correct names for the present paper as stated above.
Journal ArticleDOI

Time-dependent effect of statins on platelet function in hypercholesterolaemia.

TL;DR: The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of simvastatin (20 mg day−1), atorvastsatin (10 mg day+1), fluvastasin (40 mg day-−1) and pravastatin on platelet function in hypercholesterolaemic subjects with relation to (LDL‐C), oxidized‐LDL (ox‐ LDL) and antiport mechanism modifications.
Journal ArticleDOI

Selective Inhibition of Carbonic Anhydrase IX Decreases Cell Proliferation and Induces Ceramide-Mediated Apoptosis in Human Cancer Cells

TL;DR: CA inhibition can decrease cell proliferation and induce apoptosis in human tumor cells and the ability of CA inhibitors to decrease intracellular pH (pHi) and increase ceramide production in the same cells might trigger cell apoptosis through mediation of ceramide synthesis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Gender-differences in disease distribution and outcome in hospitalized elderly: data from the REPOSI study.

Salvatore Corrao, +313 more
TL;DR: The study showed a gender dimorphism in the demographic and morbidity profiles of hospitalized elderly people, emphasizing once more the need for a personalized process of healthcare.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of atorvastatin and rosuvastatin on thromboxane-dependent platelet activation and oxidative stress in hypercholesterolemia

TL;DR: Both atorVastatin and rosuvastatin cause comparable reductions of thromboxane-dependent platelet activation, lipid peroxidation and inflammation, and the presence of 3'UTR/LOX-1 polymorphism does not affect the changes induced by either statin.
