Journal ArticleDOI
Draft Genome Sequence of Corynebacterium striatum 1961 BR-RJ/09, a Multidrug-Susceptible Strain Isolated from the Urine of a Hospitalized 37-Year-Old Female Patient
Ana Luíza Mattos-Guaraldi,Luis C. Guimarães,Carolina S. Santos,Adonney A. O. Veras,Adriana Ribeiro Carneiro,Siomar de Castro Soares,Juliana Nunes Ramos,Juliana Nunes Ramos,Cassius Souza,Verônica Viana Vieira,Raphael Hirata,Vasco Azevedo,Luis G.C. Pacheco,Artur Silva,Rommel Thiago Jucá Ramos +14 more
TL;DR: The draft genome of strain 1961 BR-RJ/09 is described, isolated from the urine of a hospitalized patient from Brazil, and it is shown that this bacterium commonly colonizes normal skin and nasopharyngeal tract of humans.
Journal ArticleDOI
Advances in patent applications related to allergen immunotherapy.
Eduardo Santos da Silva,Carina S. Pinheiro,Cristina M. Quintella,Fatima Ferreira,Luis G.C. Pacheco,Neuza Maria Alcântara-Neves +5 more
TL;DR: The extract-based immunotherapy is being replaced by the use of recombinant allergens, highlighting the hypoallergenic forms, which have low IgE-binding while retaining T-cell reactivity, thus allowing better patient adherence and compliance.
Journal ArticleDOI
A hybrid of two major Blomia tropicalis allergens as an allergy vaccine candidate
Eduardo Santos da Silva,Eduardo Santos da Silva,Lorenz Aglas,Carina S. Pinheiro,Emília Maria Medeiros de Andrade Belitardo,Elisânia Fontes Silveira,Sara Huber,Rogério Tanan Torres,Michael Wallner,Peter Briza,Peter Lackner,Josef Laimer,Luis G.C. Pacheco,Alvaro A. Cruz,Neuza Maria Alcântara-Neves,Fatima Ferreira +15 more
TL;DR: Allergen‐specific immunotherapy (AIT) represents a curative approach for treating allergies in the tropical and subtropical regions of the world where Blomia tropicalis is the likely dominant source of indoor allergens.
Journal ArticleDOI
Immunogenicity and protection induced by recombinant Toxocara canis proteins in a murine model of toxocariasis.
Luis Fabián Salazar Garcés,Leonardo Freire Santiago,Sara Patrícia de Oliveira Santos,Dumar Alexander Jaramillo Hernández,Dumar Alexander Jaramillo Hernández,Márcia Barbosa da Silva,Vitor dos Santos Alves,Elisania Fontes Silveira,Stella Maria Barrouin-Melo,Philip J. Cooper,Philip J. Cooper,Luis G.C. Pacheco,Carina S. Pinheiro,Neuza Maria Alcantara-Neves +13 more
TL;DR: The identification of vaccine targets by in silico analysis was an effective strategy to identify immunogenic T. canis proteins capable of reducing larval burdens following challenge with the parasite.
Journal ArticleDOI
Whole-genome sequencing reveals misidentification of a multidrug-resistant urine clinical isolate as Corynebacterium urealyticum.
Danilo J.P.G. Rocha,Vasco Azevedo,Bertram Brenig,Artur Silva,Jochen Blom,Rommel Thiago Jucá Ramos,Eric R.G.R. Aguiar,Itziar Chapartegui-González,Marta Fernández-Martínez,Luis Martínez-Martínez,Luis G.C. Pacheco,Jesús Navas +11 more
TL;DR: Whole genome sequencing is a powerful tool for Corynebacterium identification at the species level, and for detection of unusual resistance determinants, as that encoded by the class I integron in isolate VH4248.
