Journal ArticleDOI
Paclitaxel is incorporated by mesenchymal stromal cells and released in exosomes that inhibit in vitro tumor growth: a new approach for drug delivery.
Luisa Pascucci,Valentina Coccè,Arianna Bonomi,Diletta Ami,Piero Ceccarelli,Emilio Ciusani,Lucia Viganò,Alberta Locatelli,Francesca Sisto,Silvia Maria Doglia,Eugenio Parati,Maria Ester Bernardo,Maurizio Muraca,Giulio Alessandri,Gianpietro Bondiolotti,Augusto Pessina +15 more
TL;DR: This work has found that MSCs can acquire strong anti-tumor activity after priming with Paclitaxel (PTX) through their capacity to uptake and then release the drug, suggesting the possibility of using M SCs as a factory to develop drugs with a higher cell-target specificity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mesenchymal Stem Cell-Derived Extracellular Vesicles as Mediators of Anti-Inflammatory Effects: Endorsement of Macrophage Polarization.
Claudia Lo Sicco,Claudia Lo Sicco,Daniele Reverberi,Carolina Balbi,Valentina Ulivi,Elisa Principi,Luisa Pascucci,Pamela Becherini,Pamela Becherini,Maria Carla Bosco,Luigi Varesio,Chiara Franzin,Michela Pozzobon,Ranieri Cancedda,Roberta Tasso +14 more
TL;DR: Detailed characterization of EVs released by human adipose derived‐MSCs indicate that MSC‐EVs possess effective anti‐inflammatory properties, making them potential therapeutic agents more handy and safe than MSCs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Immunoregulatory Effects of Mesenchymal Stem Cell-Derived Extracellular Vesicles on T Lymphocytes.
Andrea Del Fattore,Rosa Luciano,Luisa Pascucci,Bianca Maria Goffredo,Ezio Giorda,Margherita Scapaticci,Alessandra Fierabracci,Maurizio Muraca +7 more
TL;DR: MSC-EVs demonstrate immunomodulatory effects on T cells in vitro, however, these effects and the underlying mechanisms appear to be different from those exhibited by their cells of origin.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differential effects of extracellular vesicles secreted by mesenchymal stem cells from different sources on glioblastoma cells
Andrea Del Fattore,Rosa Luciano,Rossana Saracino,Giulia Battafarano,Cristiano Rizzo,Luisa Pascucci,Giulio Alessandri,Augusto Pessina,Antonio Perrotta,Alessandra Fierabracci,Maurizio Muraca +10 more
TL;DR: Different effects of MSC-EVs on cancer cells were observed depending on their tissue of origin, suggesting that MSC -EVs can deliver antiblastic drugs to glioblastoma cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mesenchymal stem/stromal cell extracellular vesicles: From active principle to next generation drug delivery system
Barbara Crivelli,Theodora Chlapanidas,Sara Perteghella,Enrico Lucarelli,Luisa Pascucci,Anna T. Brini,Ivana Ferrero,Mario Marazzi,Augusto Pessina,Maria Luisa Torre +9 more
TL;DR: This review focuses on MSCs and their EVs as APIs, as well as DDS, considering their ability to reach inflamed and damaged tissues and to prolong the release of encapsulated drugs.
