Journal ArticleDOI

Platelet-derived miR-223 promotes a phenotypic switch in arterial injury repair

TL;DR: The results suggest that horizontal transfer of platelet-derived miRNAs into VSMCs provides a novel mechanism for regulating VSMC phenotypic switching, and play a dual role in vascular injury repair, initiating an immediate repair process and a delayed process to prevent excessive repair.
Journal ArticleDOI

Reduced Platelet miR-223 Induction in Kawasaki Disease Leads To Severe Coronary Artery Pathology Through a miR-223/PDGFRβ Vascular Smooth Muscle Cell Axis

TL;DR: Investigating whether platelet/vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) interactions contribute to coronary pathology in Kawasaki disease found platelet-derived miR-223 (through PDGFRβ inhibition) promotes VSMC differentiation and resolution of KD induced vascular injury.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Role of Platelet Microparticle Associated microRNAs in Cellular Crosstalk.

TL;DR: Understanding the underlying mechanism and identification of the platelet miRNAs involved in this biological process would provide novel diagnostic and therapeutic targets for cardiovascular diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI

Gasdermin D-dependent platelet pyroptosis exacerbates NET formation and inflammation in severe sepsis

TL;DR: Su et al. as discussed by the authors showed that platelet-specific GSDMD deficiency in platelets or pharmacological inhibition of S100A8/A9 using Paquinimod can break this detrimental feedback loop, thus ameliorating excessive NET-mediated inflammation in mouse models of severe sepsis.
