Journal ArticleDOI
Class-Sparing Regimens for Initial Treatment of HIV-1 Infection
Sharon A. Riddler,Richard Haubrich,A. Gregory DiRienzo,Lynne Peeples,William G. Powderly,Karin L. Klingman,Kevin W. Garren,Tania George,James F. Rooney,Barbara Brizz,Umesh G. Lalloo,Robert L. Murphy,Susan Swindells,Diane V. Havlir,John W. Mellors +14 more
TL;DR: The virologic efficacy of the NRTI-sparing regimen was similar to that of the efavirenz regimen but was more likely to be associated with drug resistance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Abacavir-lamivudine versus tenofovir-emtricitabine for initial HIV-1 therapy.
Paul E. Sax,Camlin Tierney,Ann C. Collier,Margaret A. Fischl,Katie R. Mollan,Lynne Peeples,Catherine Godfrey,Nasreen C. Jahed,Laurie Myers,David Katzenstein,Awny Farajallah,James F. Rooney,Belinda Ha,William C. Woodward,Susan L. Koletar,Victoria A. Johnson,P. Jan Geiseler,Eric S. Daar +17 more
TL;DR: In patients with screening HIV-1 RNA levels of 100,000 copies per milliliter or more, the times to virologic failure and the first adverse event were both significantly shorter in patients randomly assigned to abacavir-lamivudine than in those assigned to tenofovir DF-emtricitabine.
Journal ArticleDOI
Predictors of on-duty coronary events in male firefighters in the United States.
Jesse R. Geibe,Jesse R. Geibe,Jonathan Holder,Lynne Peeples,Aaron M. Kinney,John W. Burress,Stefanos N. Kales,Stefanos N. Kales +7 more
TL;DR: Previous CHD, current smoking, and hypertension are strong predictors of fatality in male firefighters experiencing on-duty CHD events, and prevention efforts should include early detection and control of hypertension, smoking cessation/prohibition, and the restriction of most firefighters with significant CHD from strenuous duties.
Journal ArticleDOI
Firefighter heart presumption retirements in Massachusetts 1997-2004.
TL;DR: Cardiovascular risk factor prevalence was high among all retiree subgroups and significantly greater than among control firefighters in almost all cases, and supports calls for improved cardiovascular prevention and risk reduction strategies among firefighters.
Journal ArticleDOI
Seasonality and coronary heart disease deaths in United States firefighters
Ibeawuchi Mbanu,Gregory A. Wellenius,Murray A. Mittleman,Lynne Peeples,Leonard A. Stallings,Stefanos N. Kales +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the seasonal and annual variation of all on-duty coronary heart disease deaths among US firefighters between 1994 and 2004 using the chi-square distribution and Poisson regression model of the monthly fatality counts.
