Ionospheric zonal velocities at conjugate points over Brazil during the COPEX campaign: Experimental observations and theoretical validations
J. H. A. Sobral,M. A. Abdu,Todd Pedersen,Vivian M. Castilho,Daniela C. S. Arruda,Marcio T. A. H. Muella,Inez S. Batista,M. Mascarenhas,E. R. de Paula,Paul M. Kintner,E. A. Kherani,Amauri Fragoso de Medeiros,Ricardo Buriti,H. Takahashi,Nelson Jorge Schuch,Clezio Marcos Denardini,C.J. Zamlutti,A. A. Pimenta,J.R. de Souza,F. Bertoni +19 more
TL;DR: In this article, the velocities of large-scale ionospheric plasma depletions over two conjugate stations inferred from OI 630 nm airglow all-sky images obtained during the Conjugate Point Equatorial Experiment (COPEX) campaign carried out in Brazil between October and November 2002 were analyzed.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Three-Dimensional Simulation of Collisional-Interchange-Instability in the Equatorial-Low-Latitude Ionosphere
TL;DR: In this paper, a 3D simulation of collisional-interchange-instability in the equatorial-low-latitude F region of ionosphere is presented, which is responsible for the generation of large plasma density depletion or bubble.
Journal ArticleDOI
Midnight reversal of ionospheric plasma bubble eastward velocity to westward velocity during geomagnetically quiettime: Climatology and its model validation
J. H. A. Sobral,Vivian M. Castilho,M.A. Abdu,Hisao Takahashi,Igo Paulino,Ulisses A. C. Gasparelo,Daniela C. S. Arruda,M. Mascarenhas,C.J. Zamlutti,Clezio Marcos Denardini,D. Koga,A.F. de Medeiros,Ricardo Buriti +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed the WTB velocities during 14 quiet days between 2001 and 2006 at the Brazilian station Sao Joao do Cariri (Geographic 7.45°S, 36.5°W, dip ∼20°S).
Journal ArticleDOI
Equatorial evening prereversal vertical drift dependence on solar EUV flux and F10.7 index during quiet and disturbed periods over Brazil
TL;DR: In this article, a study of the dependence of the equatorial evening F region vertical drift velocity on solar EUV flux and F10.7 index is presented, based on the vertical drift data obtained from Digisondes operated in Sao Luis (44.2° W, 2.33° S, dip angle: −2.7°) and Fortaleza (38.45° E, 3.9° S) in Brazil.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electrodynamic coupling processes between the magnetosphere and the equatorial ionosphere during a 5-day HILDCAA event
D. Koga,J. H. A. Sobral,Walter D. Gonzalez,Daniela C. S. Arruda,M.A. Abdu,V.M. de Castilho,M. Mascarenhas,Alicia L. Clúa de Gonzalez,Bruce T. Tsurutani,Clezio Marcos Denardini,C.J. Zamlutti +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a statistical analysis of equatorial F-peak height vertical drifts during a 5-day HILDCAA event (3-7 July 2003) was presented by means of a correlation analysis carried out between the magnitude of disturbed height variations over the equatorial station Sao Luis-SL (446W, 233S, dip angle 15S) and the magnitudes of the interplanetary electric field at the magnetopause.
