Journal ArticleDOI

Genome-wide discovery of SNPs in candidate genes related to production and fertility traits in Sahiwal cattle

TL;DR: The SNPs identified in this study will facilitate further insights on tropical adaptation, domestication history and population structure of indigenous cattle and serve as useful genetic tools, in the quest for phenotype modifying nucleotide change and help in designing appropriate genetic improvement programs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of season, stage of lactation, parity and level of milk production on incidence of clinical mastitis in Karan Fries and Sahiwal cows

TL;DR: It can be inferred that high-producing animals are more prone to mastitis during rainy season due to droplet infection, damp and muddy floors and that animals in advance parity were also more affected indicating that widened teat canal and elongated teat shape predisposes animal tomastitis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genomic diversity and selection sweeps identified in Indian swamp buffaloes reveals it's uniqueness with riverine buffaloes.

TL;DR: PCA and structure analysis revealed Manipuri swamp buffalo was genetically distinct and closely related to Nagaland swamp buffalo and least to Assamese swamp buffalo.
Journal ArticleDOI

Novel SNP identification in exon 3 of HSP90AA1 gene and their association with heat tolerance traits in Karan Fries (Bos taurus × Bos indicus) cows under tropical climatic condition

TL;DR: Findings may partly suggest that cows with GG genotypes were favored for heat tolerance trait, which can be used as an aid to selection for thermo-tolerance Karan Fries cows for better adaptation in subtropical and tropical hot climate.
Journal ArticleDOI

Molecular characterization and polymorphism detection in HSPB6 gene in Sahiwal cattle

TL;DR: Comparative sequence analysis found monomorphic pattern was found in exon 2 of HSPB6 gene in Sahiwal cattle and further research need be directed to find out the association of allelic variants in major heat shock protein genes to establish markers for the future genetic improvement of livestock through marker assisted selection.
