Journal ArticleDOI

Risk factors, mortality, and timing of ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke with left ventricular assist devices.

TL;DR: Risk of stroke and death among patients with stroke is bimodal, with highest risk at time of implant and increasing risk again after 9-12 months later, and management of modifiable risk factors may reduce stroke and mortality rates.
Journal ArticleDOI

Initial hospital management of patients with emergent large vessel occlusion (ELVO): report of the standards and guidelines committee of the Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery

TL;DR: Recommendations designed to decrease the time to endovascular treatment (EVT) for appropriately selected patients with stroke and strategies that provide patients with ELVO with the fastest access to reperfusion depend upon detail-oriented process improvement.
Journal ArticleDOI

Decline in Stroke Presentations During COVID-19 Surge.

TL;DR: A significant decrease in acute stroke presentations was observed by ≈30% across emergency departments at the time of surge of COVID-19 cases, which could be attributed to true decline in stroke incidence or patients not seeking medical attention for emergencies during the pandemic.
Journal ArticleDOI

Long-term Follow-up of In-stent Stenosis After Pipeline Flow Diversion Treatment of Intracranial Aneurysms.

TL;DR: Treatment with the PED was associated with a 9.8% rate of in-stent stenosis, detected on first angiographic follow-up, at a median of 6 months, and none were symptomatic or required re-treatment, and they showed significant improvement on follow- up.
