Journal ArticleDOI
Diabetes impairs progenitor cell mobilisation after hindlimb ischaemia-reperfusion injury in rats.
Gian Paolo Fadini,Saverio Sartore,Marco Schiavon,Mattia Albiero,Ilenia Baesso,Anna Cabrelle,Carlo Agostini,Angelo Avogaro +7 more
TL;DR: Defective ischaemia-induced bone marrow mobilisation of EPCs impedes compensatory angiogenesis in ischaemic tissues of diabetic animals and growth factor administration together with blood glucose control may offer a rational therapeutic strategy for diabetic ischaems syndromes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Outcome and surgical strategy in bronchial carcinoid tumors: single institution experience with 252 patients.
Federico Rea,Giovanna Rizzardi,Andrea Zuin,Giuseppe Marulli,Samuele Nicotra,Renato Bulf,Marco Schiavon,Francesco Sartori +7 more
TL;DR: Typical histology and N0 status were important prognostic factors in carcinoid tumors and parenchyma-sparing procedures must be considered the treatment of choice with systematic lymphadenectomy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Normothermic ex-vivo preservation with the portable Organ Care System Lung device for bilateral lung transplantation (INSPIRE): a randomised, open-label, non-inferiority, phase 3 study
Gregor Warnecke,Dirk Van Raemdonck,Michael A. Smith,Gilbert Massard,Jasleen Kukreja,Federico Rea,Gabriel Loor,Fabio De Robertis,Jayan Nagendran,Kumud Dhital,Francisco Javier Moradiellos Díez,Christoph Knosalla,Christian Bermudez,Steven Tsui,Kenneth R. McCurry,I. Wang,Tobias Deuse,Guy Lesèche,Pascal Thomas,Igor Tudorache,Christian Kühn,Murat Avsar,Bettina Wiegmann,Wiebke Sommer,Arne Neyrinck,Marco Schiavon,Fiorella Calabrese,Nichola Santelmo,Anne Olland,Pierre-Emanuel Falcoz,Andre R. Simon,Andrés Varela,Joren C. Madsen,Marshall I. Hertz,Axel Haverich,Abbas Ardehali +35 more
TL;DR: The INSPIRE trial met its primary effectiveness and safety endpoints and further research is needed to see whether the reduced incidence of PGD3 within 72 h of a transplant might translate into earlier recovery after improved long-term recovery in the non-inferiority patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Circulating Progenitor Cells Are Reduced in Patients with Severe Lung Disease
Gian Paolo Fadini,Marco Schiavon,Marcella Cantini,Ilenia Baesso,Monica Facco,Marta Miorin,Mauro Tassinato,Saula Vigili de Kreutzenberg,Angelo Avogaro,Carlo Agostini +9 more
TL;DR: Findings demonstrate a reduction of EPCs in patients with chronic lung disease and long‐lasting hypoxia, which may be involved in altered endothelial homeostasis of pulmonary circulation in these disorders.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association of TMEM16A chloride channel overexpression with airway goblet cell metaplasia
Paolo Scudieri,Emanuela Caci,Silvia Bruno,Loretta Ferrera,Marco Schiavon,Elvira Sondo,Valeria Tomati,Ambra Gianotti,Olga Zegarra-Moran,Nicoletta Pedemonte,Federico Rea,Roberto Ravazzolo,Roberto Ravazzolo,Luis J. V. Galietta +13 more
TL;DR: In bronchial epithelial cells treated with interleukin‐4, it is found that TMEM16A protein becomes highly expressed in goblet but not in ciliated cells.
