Journal ArticleDOI

Intrinsic and extrinsic corrugation of monolayer graphene deposited on SiO 2

TL;DR: A detailed analysis shows that the long-range corrugation of the substrate is also visible on graphene, but with a reduced amplitude, leading to the conclusion that the graphene is partly freely suspended between hills of the substrates.
Journal ArticleDOI

Three-dimensional imaging of short-range chemical forces with picometre resolution

TL;DR: This work shows force maps with picometre and piconewton resolution that allow a detailed characterization of the interaction between the surface and the tip of the microscope in three dimensions, and suggests that the excellent lubrication properties of graphite may be due to a significant localization of the lateral forces.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bistability and oscillatory motion of natural nanomembranes appearing within monolayer graphene on silicon dioxide.

TL;DR: Graphene flakes are shown to provide natural nanomembranes of diameter down to 3 nm within its intrinsic rippling, which might lead to a completely novel approach to controlled quantized oscillations or single atom mass detection.
