Genetic Meningococcal Antigen Typing System (gMATS): A genotyping tool that predicts 4CMenB strain coverage worldwide.
Alessandro Muzzi,Alessandro Brozzi,Laura Serino,Margherita Bodini,Raquel Abad,Dominique A. Caugant,Maurizio Comanducci,Ana Paula Silva de Lemos,Maria Cecília Gorla,Pavla Křížová,Claudia Mikula,Robert M. Mulhall,Michael D. Nissen,Hanna Nohynek,Maria João Simões,Anna Skoczynska,Paola Stefanelli,Muhamed-Kheir Taha,Maija Toropainen,Georgina Tzanakaki,Kumaran Vadivelu-Pechai,Philip S. Watson,Julio A. Vázquez,Gowrisankar Rajam,Rino Rappuoli,Ray Borrow,Duccio Medini +26 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined if antigen genotyping could complement MATS in predicting strain coverage by the 4CMenB vaccine, and found that it was possible to predict strain coverage in four out of five cases, without requiring a cultivable isolate.
Genetic Meningococcal Antigen Typing System (gMATS): A genotyping tool that predicts 4CMenB strain coverage worldwide
Alessandro Muzzi,Alessandro Brozzi,Laura Serino,Margherita Bodini,Raquel Abad,Dominique A. Caugant,Maurizio Comanducci,Ana Paula Silva de Lemos,Maria Cecília Gorla,Pavla Krizova,Claudia Mikula,Robert M. Mulhall,Michael D. Nissen,Hanna Nohynek,Maria João Simões,Anna Skoczyńska,Paola Stefanelli,Muhamed-Kheir Taha,Maija Toropainen,Georgina Tzanakaki,Kumaran Vadivelu-Pechai,Philip S. Watson,Julio A. Vázquez,Gowrisankar Rajam,Rino Rappuoli,Ray Borrow,Duccio Medini +26 more
TL;DR: The Meningococcal Antigen Typing System (MATS) was developed to identify meningococcus group B strains with a high likelihood of being covered by the 4CMenB vaccine, but is limited by the requirement for viable isolates from culture confirmed cases as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Acute promyelocytic leukemias share cooperative mutations with other myeloid-leukemia subgroups.
Laura Riva,Chiara Ronchini,Margherita Bodini,Francesco Lo-Coco,Serena Lavorgna,Tiziana Ottone,Giovanni Martinelli,Ilaria Iacobucci,Corrado Tarella,Alessandro Cignetti,Sara Volorio,Loris Bernard,Anna Di Russo,Giorgio E. M. Melloni,Lucilla Luzi,Myriam Alcalay,Myriam Alcalay,Gaetano Ivan Dellino,Gaetano Ivan Dellino,Pier Giuseppe Pelicci,Pier Giuseppe Pelicci +20 more
TL;DR: It is necessary to select patients with a history of atypical central giant cell granuloma, particularly if they have a family history of the disease, and select patients who are likely to be at high-risk of developing mantle cell lymphoma.
Journal ArticleDOI
The hidden genomic landscape of acute myeloid leukemia: subclonal structure revealed by undetected mutations
Margherita Bodini,Chiara Ronchini,Luciano Giacò,Anna Di Russo,Giorgio E. M. Melloni,Lucilla Luzi,Domenico Sardella,Sara Volorio,Syed Khizer Hasan,Tiziana Ottone,Serena Lavorgna,Francesco Lo-Coco,Anna Candoni,Renato Fanin,Eleonora Toffoletti,Ilaria Iacobucci,Giovanni Martinelli,Alessandro Cignetti,Corrado Tarella,Loris Bernard,Pier Giuseppe Pelicci,Pier Giuseppe Pelicci,Laura Riva +22 more
TL;DR: The findings raise the possibility that landscapes of AML genomes might be more complex than previously reported and characterized by the presence of hundreds of genes mutated at low variant allele frequency, suggesting that the application of genome sequencing to the clinic requires a careful and critical evaluation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interplay Between Virulence and Variability Factors as a Potential Driver of Invasive Meningococcal Disease
TL;DR: In this paper, a series of argumentations supporting the hypothesis that invasive meningococcal disease comes as a result of the coexistence of bacterial virulence and variability factors in a plot that can be further complicated by additional latent factors, like host pre-existing immune status and genetic predisposition.
