Journal ArticleDOI

Local knowledge of impacts of tree cover on ecosystem services in smallholder coffee production systems

TL;DR: In this article, the authors explored farmers' knowledge regarding how trees affect coffee productivity and ecosystem services in Costa Rica and concluded that technical interventions addressing the improvement of coffee plantations are more likely to be successful if they take into account not only the scientific information on agroforestry interactions but also the knowledge possessed by farmers.
Journal ArticleDOI

Assessing Weather-Yield Relationships in Rice at Local Scale Using Data Mining Approaches.

TL;DR: The potential of data mining for adding value to existing observational data in agriculture is illustrated by allowing embedded knowledge to be quickly leveraged and generates site-specific information on cultivar response to climatic factors and supports on-farm management decisions for adaptation to climate variability.
Journal ArticleDOI

Leaf morphology, rather than plant water status, underlies genetic variation of rice leaf rolling under drought.

TL;DR: The degree of leaf rolling under drought was more affected by leaf morphology than by stomatal conductance, leaf water status, or maintenance of shoot biomass and grain yield, in tropical japonica and aus diversity panels.
