Journal ArticleDOI

Loss of morphine-induced analgesia, reward effect and withdrawal symptoms in mice lacking the mu-opioid-receptor gene.

TL;DR: Investigation of the behavioural effects of morphine reveals that a lack of μ receptors abolishes the analgesic effect of morphine, as well as place-preference activity and physical dependence, and concludes that the µ-opioid-receptor gene product is a mandatory component of the opioid system for morphine action.
Journal ArticleDOI

Parkinsonian-like locomotor impairment in mice lacking dopamine D2 receptors.

TL;DR: This study shows that D2 receptors have a key role in the dopaminergic control of nervous function, using homologous recombination to generate D2-receptor-deficient mice, which have therapeutic potential as a model for investigating and correcting dysfunctions of the dopamine system.
Journal ArticleDOI

Serotonin 2B receptor is required for heart development.

TL;DR: In vivo data suggest that the Gq-coupled receptor 5-HT(2B) uses the signaling pathway of tyrosine kinase receptor ErbB-2 for cardiac differentiation and differentiation of developing and adult heart.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nuclear targeting defect of SMN lacking the C-terminus in a mouse model of spinal muscular atrophy

TL;DR: The lack of the nuclear targeting of SMN is identified as the biochemical defect in SMA, and the mutated SMN protein is dramatically reduced in the motor neuron nuclei and causes a lack of gems associated with large aggregates of coilin, a coiled-body-specific protein.
