Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization and antioxidant potential of Brazilian fruits from the Myrtaceae family.

TL;DR: The uvaia outranked the other fruits with respect to its high carotenoid and vitamin A contents, and the yellow guava, although showing a lower bioactive compound content and antioxidant activity, nevertheless presented much higher values than many traditionally consumed fruits.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of nanoencapsulation using PLGA on antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of guabiroba fruit phenolic extract

TL;DR: PLGA nanoparticles can be used as a delivery system for phenolic compounds at lower levels than originally required for enhanced functional properties, and reduction of ROS generation in non-cancer cells was achieved with lower GPE concentrations after encapsulation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization, bioactive compounds and antioxidant potential of three Brazilian fruits

TL;DR: In this paper, the physicochemical composition and antioxidant potential of three native species, namely the araticu-do-mato (Rollinia sylvatica A. St.-Hil.), pindo palm (Butia capitata (Mart.) Becc.) and mandacaru-de-tres-quinas (Cereus hildmannianus K. Schum.) were determined in this study.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nanoencapsulation of hydrophobic phytochemicals using poly(dl-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) for antioxidant and antimicrobial delivery applications: Guabiroba fruit (Campomanesia xanthocarpa O. Berg) study

TL;DR: In this paper, poly (dl-lactide-co-glycolide) nanoparticles with entrapped guabiroba extract were synthesized using the emulsion-evaporation method with different lactide to glycolide (50:50 and 65:35) ratios to determine the dependency of polymer composition on nanoparticles antioxidant and antimicrobial activities.
Journal ArticleDOI

Amora-preta (Rubus sp.): otimização do processo de extração para determinação de compostos fenólicos antioxidantes

TL;DR: In this paper, a study of compostos fenolicos encontrados em amora-preta sao beneficos for a saude humana devido a acao antioxidante.
