Journal ArticleDOI
Relationships between urinary inositol excretions and whole-body glucose tolerance and skeletal muscle insulin receptor phosphorylation.
TL;DR: These findings support previous research linking higher urinary D-chiro-inositol excretion with a progressive decline in whole-body glucose tolerance and inversely related to tyrosine phosphorylation of the insulin receptor (phosphotyrosine 1162/1163) in older nondiabetic subjects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome criteria in lean, normoglycemic college-age subjects
Dana K. Townsend,Katheryn McGregor,Esther E. Wu,Kathryn Cialkowski,Mark D. Haub,Thomas J. Barstow +5 more
TL;DR: Insulin resistance is present in lean, NGT college-age subjects even without MetS criteria and is discernable with an easily applicable OGTT-derived index.
Journal ArticleDOI
Global untargeted metabolic profiling of human sweat from exercising men and women
Douglas P. Lee,Adam D. Kennedy,Eric K. O’Neal,Phillip A. Bishop,Mark D. Haub,Kelcie L Strecker,Sylvia P Poulos +6 more
TL;DR: Prolonged exercise caused a significant decrease of several amino acids reflecting the importance of acid-base balance and ammonia detoxification in muscle during exercise and a decrease in the sweat concentration of many metabolites at the end of exercise compared to sweat collected between 10-20min.
