Cancer-Associated Adipocytes Exhibit an Activated Phenotype and Contribute to Breast Cancer Invasion

TL;DR: In vitro and in vivo evidence is provided that invasive cancer cells dramatically impact surrounding adipocytes and peritumoral adipocytes exhibit a modified phenotype and specific biological features sufficient to be named cancer-associated adipocytes (CAA); and CAAs modify the cancer cell characteristics/phenotype leading to a more aggressive behavior.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fecal proteases from diarrheic-IBS and ulcerative colitis patients exert opposite effect on visceral sensitivity in mice.

TL;DR: Elevated colonic luminal serine‐protease activity of diarrhea‐predominant IBS (IBS‐D) patients evokes a proteinase‐activated receptor (PAR)‐2‐mediated colonic hypersensitivity in mice, which contrasts with patients with IBD who exhibit visceral hypo‐ or normosensitivity to rectal distension.
Journal ArticleDOI

alpha-Ketoglutarate (AKG) absorption from pig intestine and plasma pharmacokinetics.

TL;DR: It is concluded that AKG was significantly better absorbed from the upper small intestine than from the distal sections and low pH, Fe(2+) and/or SO ions enhanced AKG absorption.
