Hepatic platelet and leukocyte adherence during endotoxemia
Roland S. Croner,Elfie Hoerer,Yakup Kulu,Tilo Hackert,Martha-Maria Gebhard,Christian Herfarth,Ernst Klar +6 more
TL;DR: Hepatic platelet-endothelial interaction is an early event during endotoxemia, which underlines the probable involvement of platelets in leukocyte recruitment and makes the existence of autoregulatory liver mechanisms likely.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cancer stem cell marker expression in hepatocellular carcinoma and liver metastases is not sufficient as single prognostic parameter
Alexei V. Salnikov,Grace Kusumawidjaja,Grace Kusumawidjaja,Vanessa Rausch,Vanessa Rausch,Helge Bruns,Wolfgang Gross,Akmal Khamidjanov,Eduard Ryschich,Martha-Maria Gebhard,Gerhard Moldenhauer,Markus W. Büchler,Peter Schemmer,Ingrid Herr,Ingrid Herr +14 more
TL;DR: Tissue specimens of hepatocellular carcinoma and colorectal carcinoma liver metastases were profiled and suggested cancer stem cell markers in tissue specimens showed no correlation with patients' clinical-pathological status or with the cancer stem Cell marker-positive cells localization.
Journal ArticleDOI
Inhibition of nitric oxide synthesis in ischemia/reperfusion of the rat liver is followed by impairment of hepatic microvascular blood flow
Thomas A. Koeppel,J. C. Thies,Peter Schemmer,Michael Trauner,Martha-Maria Gebhard,Gerd Otto,S. Post +6 more
TL;DR: Inhibition of NO-synthesis during reperfusion by application of L-NAME caused a marked decrease in sinusoidal blood flow velocity, providing further evidence that NO maintains postischemic hepatic microvascular perfusion and that inhibition of NO synthesis has detrimental effects on hepaticmicrohemodynamics during reperFusion.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of N-acetylcysteine on the hepatic microcirculation after orthotopic liver transplantation.
Thomas A. Koeppel,Thorsten G. Lehmann,J. C. Thies,Renate Gehrcke,Martha-Maria Gebhard,Christian Herfarth,Gerd Otto,Stefan Post +7 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that high-dose therapy with NAC in OLT attenuates manifestations of microvascular perfusion failure early after reperfusion and should be considered as a means to reduce reperfusions injury.
Journal ArticleDOI
Extrahepatic biliary obstruction impairs microvascular perfusion and increases leukocyte adhesion in rat liver.
Thomas A. Koeppel,Michael Trauner,J. C. Baas,J. C. Thies,Schlosser Sf,Stefan Post,Martha-Maria Gebhard,Christian Herfarth,James L. Boyer,Gerd Otto +9 more
TL;DR: Results show that BDL is followed by a marked depression of the hepatic microcirculation and increased leukocyte adhesion in vivo within 3 to 7 days, suggesting that deficits in microvascular perfusion and increased neutrophil infiltration may represent a potential source of liver injury during acute biliary obstruction.
