Journal ArticleDOI
Isolation and identification by sequence analysis of experimentally induced guinea pig amyloid fibrils
TL;DR: A definite species specificity in A protein from human and guinea pig was identified on immunologic analysis and demonstrated a sequence homologous with that of A proteins fromhuman and monkey preparations but preceded by a 5-residue peptide which had an N-terminal histidine.
Journal Article
Soft tissue uptake of bone seeking radionuclide in amyloidosis
TL;DR: Amyloidosis should be considered in any patient with diffuse hepatic uptake or other soft tissue uptake of bone seeking radionuclides, and a mechanism for the abnormal uptake is postulated based on in vitro tissue analysis for calcium.
Journal ArticleDOI
Role of endocytic inhibitory drugs on internalization of amyloidogenic light chains by cardiac fibroblasts.
Grace Monis,Christopher Schultz,Ruiyi Ren,Jeremy Eberhard,Catherine E. Costello,Lawreen H. Connors,Martha Skinner,Vickery Trinkaus-Randall +7 more
TL;DR: Results indicate that the cell internalizes light chain by a fluid phase endocytosis, which is then modified and ultimately compromises the cell.
Journal ArticleDOI
A simple screening test for variant transthyretins associated with familial transthyretin amyloidosis using isoelectric focusing
Lawreen H. Connors,Thomas Ericsson,J. Skare,Lee Anna Jones,Lee Anna Jones,W. David Lewis,Martha Skinner +6 more
TL;DR: In sera from patients with ATTR who underwent liver transplantation, variant TTR was detected by IEF before, but not after, surgery, a simple, accurate, sensitive method is presented as a useful screening test for variant transthyretins associated with AT TR.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cellular response of cardiac fibroblasts to amyloidogenic light chains.
Vickery Trinkaus-Randall,Mary T. Walsh,Shawn Steeves,Grace Monis,Lawreen H. Connors,Martha Skinner +5 more
TL;DR: It is indicated that internalization of the light chains mediates the expression and localization of heparan sulfate proteoglycans inAmyloidoses and this study investigated the cellular response of primary cardiac fibroblasts to amyloidogenic light chains and determined the corresponding change in proteoglycanexpression and localization.
