Macroglossia – Not Always AL Amyloidosis
Andrew J. Cowan,Martha Skinner,J. Mark Sloan,John L. Berk,Carl O'Hara,David C. Seldin,Vaishali Sanchorawala +6 more
TL;DR: Two cases of systemic amyloidosis with macroglossia in which immuno-electron microscopy diagnosed ATTR in one and AL in the other are described, both of which had a typical response to anti-plasma cell chemotherapy.
Book ChapterDOI
Serum Concentrations of Prealbumin and Retinol Binding Protein in Familial Amyloid Patients from 15 Kinships
TL;DR: The data suggest that abnormal serum PA concentrations in patients with AF are a true manifestation of the disease, not simply a reflection of a negative acute phase response.
Treatment of AA amyloidosis: Results of a multi-center, randomized, placebo-controlled trial with 1,3-propanedisulfonate (1,3-PDS; NC-503).

Journal ArticleDOI
Hepatic Response after High-Dose Melphalan and Stem Cell Transplantation for AL Amyloidosis Associated Liver Disease.
TL;DR: Hepatic involvement with AL amyloidosis does not increase treatment-related mortality from high-dose melphalan chemotherapy and autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplantation (HDM/SCT), and Forty % of surviving evaluable patients showed remission of their hepatic disease from AL ameloidosis by 2 years.
