Fuselier,George Gloeckler,Mike Gruntman,Vlad Izmodenov,P. Knappenberger,Martin Lee,Stefano Livi,Donald G. Mitchell,Eberhard Möbius,Thomas E. Moore,S. Pope,Daniel B. Reisenfeld,Edmond C. Roelof,John Scherrer,Nathan A. Schwadron,R. Tyler,Martin Wieser,Manfred Witte,Peter Wurz,Gary P. Zank +28 more
TL;DR: The Interstellar Boundary Explorer (IBEX) is a small explorer mission that launched on 19 October 2008 with the sole, focused science objective to discover the global interaction between the solar wind and the interstellar medium.
Journal ArticleDOI
The IBEX-Lo Sensor
Stephen A. Fuselier,Peter Bochsler,Dennis J. Chornay,George Clark,Geoffrey B. Crew,G. Dunn,S. Ellis,T. A. Friedmann,Herbert O. Funsten,A. G. Ghielmetti,J. Googins,M. S. Granoff,J. W. Turco,J. Tyler,M. Vosbury,Martin Wieser,Peter Wurz,S. Zaffke +47 more
TL;DR: The IBEX-Lo sensor as discussed by the authors is a large geometric factor single pixel camera that maximizes the relatively weak heliospheric neutral signal while effectively eliminating ion, electron, and UV background sources.

Schwadron,Martin Wieser,Manfred Witte,Peter Wurz,Gary P. Zank +25 more
TL;DR: The Interstellar Boundary Explorer (IBEX) as mentioned in this paper provides the first global views of the Sun's interstellar boundaries by taking a set of global energetic neutral atom (ENA) images at a variety of energies.

Investigation of the solar wind-Moon interaction onboard Chandrayaan-1 mission with the SARA experiment
Stas Barabash,Anil Bhardwaj,Martin Wieser,R. Sridharan,Thomas Kurian,Subha Varier,E. Vijayakumar,Veena Abhirami,K. V. Raghavendra,S. V. Mohankumar,M. B. Dhanya,Satheesh Thampi,Asamura Kazushi,H. Andersson,Futaana Yoshifumi,Mats Holmström,Rickard Lundin,Johan Svensson,Stefan Karlsson,R. Daniele Piazza,Peter Wurz +20 more
TL;DR: The SARA instrument is the first ever experiment to study the solar wind–planetary surface interaction via measurements of the sputtered atoms and neutralized back-scattered solar wind hydrogen.
Journal ArticleDOI
Particle Scattering off Surfaces: Application in Space Science
TL;DR: The surface science processes occurring during particle scattering off specialized surfaces have been successfully used to detect these ENAs with high efficiency as mentioned in this paper, and the current status of surface-science-based detection technology that is used in present space missions of the European Space Agency (ESA) and the U.S. American space agency (NASA).
