Patent Foramen Ovale Closure or Anticoagulation vs. Antiplatelets after Stroke
Jean-Louis Mas,Genevieve A. Derumeaux,Benoit Guillon,Evelyne Massardier,Hassan Hosseini,Laura Mechtouff,Caroline Arquizan,Yannick Béjot,Fabrice Vuillier,Olivier Detante,Céline Guidoux,Sandrine Canaple,Claudia Vaduva,Nelly Dequatre-Ponchelle,Igor Sibon,Pierre Garnier,Anna Ferrier,Serge Timsit,Emmanuelle Robinet-Borgomano,Denis Sablot,Jean-Christophe Lacour,Mathieu Zuber,Pascal Favrole,Jean-François Pinel,Marion Apoil,Peggy Reiner,Catherine Lefebvre,Patrice Guerin,Christophe Piot,Roland Rossi,Jean-Luc Dubois-Randé,Jean-Christophe Eicher,Nicolas Meneveau,Jean-René Lusson,Bernard Bertrand,Jean-Marc Schleich,François Godart,Jean-Benoit Thambo,Laurent Leborgne,Patrik Michel,Luc Pierard,Guillaume Turc,Martine Barthelet,Anaïs Charles-Nelson,Christian Weimar,Thierry Moulin,Jean-Michel Juliard,Gilles Chatellier +47 more
TL;DR: Among patients who had had a recent cryptogenic stroke attributed to PFO with an associated atrial septal aneurysm or large interatrial shunt, the rate of stroke recurrence was lower among those assigned to P FO closure combined with antiplatelet therapy than among those assign to anti platelet therapy alone.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pulmonary Arteriovenous Malformations in Patients with Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia
Vincent Cottin,Henri Plauchu,Jean-Yves Bayle,Martine Barthelet,Didier Revel,Jean-François Cordier +5 more
TL;DR: A screening algorithm based on the combined use of contrast echocardiography and anteroposterior chest radiograph, followed by chest CT if either test is positive, may obviate the need for chest CT in patients without PAVM.
Journal ArticleDOI
Marfan Sartan: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial.
Olivier Milleron,F. Arnoult,Jacques Ropers,Philippe Aegerter,Delphine Detaint,G. Delorme,David Attias,Florence Tubach,Sophie Dupuis-Girod,H. Plauchu,Martine Barthelet,Francois Sassolas,Nicolas Pangaud,Sophie Naudion,Julie Thomas-Chabaneix,Yves Dulac,Thomas Edouard,Jean-Eric Wolf,Laurence Faivre,Sylvie Odent,Adeline Basquin,Gilbert Habib,Patrick Collignon,Catherine Boileau,Guillaume Jondeau +24 more
TL;DR: Losartan was able to decrease blood pressure in patients with MFS but not to limit aortic dilatation during a 3-year period in patients >10 years old, and β-Blocker therapy alone should remain the standard first line therapy in these patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Echocardiographic screening discloses increased values of pulmonary artery systolic pressure in 9 of 68 unselected patients affected with hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia.
Carla Olivieri,Lucav Lanzarini,Fabio Pagella,Lucia Semino,Sabrina Corno,Cristina Valacca,H. Plauchu,Gaetan Lesca,Martine Barthelet,Elisabetta Buscarini,Cesare Danesino +10 more
TL;DR: It is proposed that the measurement of PASP should be included among the parameters recorded for all patients undergoing Doppler transthoracic echocardiography during routine clinical screening because clinically significant pulmonary artery hypertension may subsequently develop in these patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of previously nonscreened hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia patients shows frequent liver involvement and early cardiac consequences
Rodica Gincul,Gaetan Lesca,Bénédicte Gelas-Dore,Nathalie Rollin,Martine Barthelet,Sophie Dupuis-Girod,Franck Pilleul,Sophie Giraud,Henri Plauchu,Jean-Christophe Saurin +9 more
TL;DR: This large prospective series of previously nonscreened HHT patients identified a sub group at risk of liver involvement and a subgroup with a higher cardiac index: future studies will show whether such patients would benefit from systematic DS screening and long‐term cardiac surveillance.
