Journal ArticleDOI

A member of Forkhead family transcription factor, FKHRL1, is one of the downstream molecules of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase-Akt activation pathway in erythropoietin signal transduction

TL;DR: This study found that erythropoietin (EPO) induced tyrosine phosphorylation of Akt in a time- and dose-dependent manner in EPO-dependent human leukemia cell line UT-7/EPO, and suggested that the PI3K-Akt activation pathway plays some role in the antiapoptotic effect of EPO.
Journal ArticleDOI

Retropharyngeal Abscess due to Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in a Case of Acute Myeloid Leukemia

TL;DR: A case of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) complicated with retropharyngeal abscess (RPA) due to methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in a 56-year-old man is described.
Journal Article

Hematopoietic recovery after administration of deferasirox for transfusional iron overload in a case of myelodysplastic syndrome.

TL;DR: This case suggests that excess iron hampers hematopoiesis and that adequate iron chelation may improve hematological data in some iron-overloaded patients.
Journal ArticleDOI

Peripherally inserted central catheter-related bloodstream infection due to Tsukamurella pulmonis: a case report and literature review.

TL;DR: PICCs can be associated with T. pulmonis bacteremia, and fourth generation cephalosporins may be effective treatment in this case of a 48-year-old man with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome and diffuse large B cell lymphoma.
