Journal ArticleDOI
Consumption of n-3 Fatty Acids and Fish Reduces Risk of Hepatocellular Carcinoma
Norie Sawada,Manami Inoue,Motoki Iwasaki,Shizuka Sasazuki,Taichi Shimazu,Taiki Yamaji,Ribeka Takachi,Yasuhito Tanaka,Masashi Mizokami,Shoichiro Tsugane +9 more
TL;DR: Consumption of n-3 PUFA-rich fish or n- 3 PUFAs, particularly EPA, DPA, and DHA, appears to protect against the development of HCC, even among subjects with HBV and/or HCV infection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reactivation of hepatitis B virus following systemic chemotherapy for malignant lymphoma
TL;DR: Clinical evidence alone is insufficient for determining optimal frequency of HBV-DNA monitoring during and after chemotherapy, or for determining when to stop preemptive therapy for HBV reactivation, so well-designed clinical trials should be carried out to investigate the efficacy and safety of suchemptive therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
A case-control study for differences among hepatitis B virus infections of genotypes A (subtypes Aa and Ae) and D.
Yasuhito Tanaka,Izumi Hasegawa,Takanobu Kato,Etsuro Orito,Noboru Hirashima,Subrat K. Acharya,Robert G. Gish,Anna Kramvis,Michael C. Kew,Namiko Yoshihara,Santosh Man Shrestha,Mobin Khan,Yuzo Miyakawa,Masashi Mizokami +13 more
TL;DR: The clearance of HBeAg from serum may occur by different mechanisms in HBV/Aa, HBv/Ae, andHBV/D infections, which may influence clinical manifestations in the Western countries where both genotypes A and D are prevalent.
Journal ArticleDOI
Epidemiological and sequence differences between two subtypes (Ae and Aa) of hepatitis B virus genotype A.
Fuminaka Sugauchi,Hiromitsu Kumada,Subrata Acharya,Santosh Man Shrestha,Maria Teresita A. Gamutan,Mobin Khan,Robert G. Gish,Yasuhito Tanaka,Takanobu Kato,Etsuro Orito,Ryuzo Ueda,Yuzo Miyakawa,Masashi Mizokami +12 more
TL;DR: In the pregenome encapsidation (epsilon) signal, a point mutation from G to A or T at nt 1862 was detected in 16 of the 19 (84 %) HBv/Aa isolates but not in any of the 20 HBV/Ae isolates, which may affect virus replication and translation of hepatitis B e antigen.
Journal ArticleDOI
A novel serum marker, glycosylated Wisteria floribunda agglutinin-positive Mac-2 binding protein (WFA+-M2BP), for assessing liver fibrosis
Takeo Toshima,Ken Shirabe,Toru Ikegami,Tomoharu Yoshizumi,Atsushi Kuno,Akira Togayachi,Masanori Gotoh,Hisashi Narimatsu,Masaaki Korenaga,Masashi Mizokami,Akihito Nishie,Shinichi Aishima,Yoshihiko Maehara +12 more
TL;DR: Serum WFA+-M2BP values based on a glycan-based immunoassay is an accurate, reliable, and reproducible method for the assessment of liver fibrosis.
